I Couldn’t help myself!

Post by Sab » Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:05 am

Was mulling over upgrading the daily so narrowed it down to the Audi A4 and Volvo S60 until I came across a Cupra Ateca and said “bloody hell, 300bhp, 400nm and 4 wheel drive, where do I sign”

Arrives in 4 weeks and super excited! :dance

Review please!
Collected the car yesterday from Chesterfield and drove it back to London.

First impressions are very good.

Exterior.

Rhodium grey metallic.
Amazing colour in the sun.
The combination of bronze and black badges work well with the colour.
Roof bars fitted as standard.
Front grilles looks slightly budget however can live with it.
Rear looks great with four tail pipes but haven’t checked if all four are real.
Heated, folding mirrors also, reversing mirror like our bimmers which is a nice touch. Illuminating emblem lights light up the ground in the evening which is a little overkill but the youngsters will love it I’m sure.
The overall look of the car is nice on the eye, not too aggressive or loud.

Interior.

Mix of leather and Alcantara is nice and the front seats are comfortable.
The dash and the door trim is cheap looking and could’ve been better.
Digital speedo and rev counter displays are lovely and there are many viewing options. The one I like is of the speedo the the left, the rev counter to the right and, the sat Nav in the centre.

The infotainment is simple and easy to use. The screen is large enough and supports Apple car play. There is a phone charging mat and two usb sockets.

Armrest and two drinks holders are provided. The door cubbies hold 1.5 litre bottles of water which is an important must have.

Steering wheel is excellent and just the right size.

The is bronze stitching in places which do look rather nice IMO.

All in all, the interior is ok however, for the price of the car and the performance it offers it could have been better.

Drive.

This is where the car performs fantastic for this class of vehicle.
The gear changes are smooth and when is comfort mode the car is placid and potters around. Select sport or Cupra mode, the suspension tightens up along with the steering with faster gear changes resulting in an immensely fast car. Do note, the suspension is not forgiving driving over slows humps or pot holes.

The acceleration is fantastic for a car if this size. It is faster than I expected.

Safety.

Anti-Collision braking.
Lane assist.

Practicality.

Sufficient space for 5 adults and a large boot.

Hope that helps.

Very nice Sab, enjoy your new car. Even has an Alpina style badge on the front spoiler! :D

Checked the exhausts and all 4 are real.

Installed dash cams today. I went for the Thinkware Q800 as I have the F770 in the B3 and can’t fault it.
