Thanks Hap. This is great. My centre badges are ok, not great, but i dont want to loose all the patina on the car.

Read all of this thread over the last day or so, appreciate you taking the time to write up/share. Certainly seems these cars are developing a few niggles as they age, just as well they’re so charismatic.

Thanks for reading Mr Scruff. I often wonder why i am under the car in the rain or queuing at ECP on a sunday afternoon, but once you drive the car all of this is worth it.

I will continue to update this.

Paint for the nose cone and the spoiler coming in December. New stripes needed.

Thanks Hap. I will get some pictures of the wheels in good time. Well once this rain stops.
I have also painted the callipers in vintage bronze - they look good.

Fair point CaesarBob - I have been a little lazy with cleaning, but the car has hardly moved in 8 months.

I decided to take the car for a short blast today to avoid the dreaded flat spots on the tyres. She has been standing for 8mths with litterally 35 miles done in all of that time.

I took her out and within seconds, my wife noticed white smoke coming in through the centre vents in the dash. I am not sure what it was all about, but it cleared within a few mins. I will see if i can find a carbon monoxide detector to see if the interior is a safe place to be.
I also notice a clunking coming from the car. Groan. Its an odd noise, like something very heavy is loose on the back of the car on the drivers side.
Whilst driving down Marlborough High street, i heard something fall off the car. I parked up and retraced my steps and it was a brake caliper spring....I did tke these out to paint them and clearly hadnt put this back on correctly.

Lesson for today - check your work twice before putting the car back together and dont leave the car sitting for months on end.

Any ideas what the noise might be or where to start?

Could the noise not have been related to the brake caliper spring?

Otherwise, rear shock mounts?

Did you have the air con on? It’s not totally unusual to see condensation coming through the vents, especially in damp weather.

Thanks both.

I will jack the car up and check tomorrow. I guess it could be the shock mounts. I will give it a good look tomorrow.
Air con was on, but the system doesnt hold pressure any longer. It might have enough pressure to blow condensation in though...

I will update you all as soon as I find out more.

I took the rear wheels off and checked around the car. I cant find anything wrong. I inflated the tyres as per the green sticker and took her for a drive - still the god awful clonking....

Difficult to tell what is happening from the description but have you checked the exhaust hangers as it might be the exhaust knocking against the underside of the car.

Just a thought
