Alpina Gone M5 Gone, Hello 760i

Post by minted_aye » Thu Mar 08, 2007 10:38 pm

Had many Alpinas over the years 6 Cylinders, V8's then moved onto the E39 M5 which is a much quicker car then the Alpina V8 not sure about the V8s, anyway things have moved on and I purchased a 760i V12 6L, what a motor and really glad I have purchased, and considerably quicker in my opinion than my old M5, Really does make everything seem slow, and so refined, looks like you can have cake and eat it after all.....Cheers

They are a lovley car congratulations.

I can assure you the m5 is faster in every way.....apart from the visits to the fuel pump, then the 760 wins hands down.

interesting choice... did you consider the ALPINA B7?

I know when ALPINA looked at which7 to base the B7 on they looked at the 760 and felt the engine and overall car was too heavy and so power to weight balance wouldn;t be as good as starting with the 745 (and later 750 engine)

I've only driven the B7 for a short distance (say 50km) but this included a mix of country and autobahn and was very impressed with the whole package. although it is a very bigh car for any thing other than motorways...
