116i fuel economy on road trip

Post by hap » Thu Mar 26, 2015 9:12 am

It's the family barge 54 plate I know it's quite thirsty but flip side is it's pretty nippy and very quiet
Filled up to brim 48.50 and covered motorway m62,m1, a roads and some dramatic inclines on way to Alton towers and back
Computer stating average 38.7mpg and range was around 90miles left before we set off from Alton so stuck another 10 pound in to be safe so had circa 160 range
Petrol light came on at 70 range and arrived home covering approx 420 miles with still 65 miles range left

Good???

38.7 mpg out a 1.6 is pretty good in real world terms, presumably loaded up with 2 adults plus kids?
I'd be happy with that

Yep the range is down to 10 miles and needle is right over to empty but managed to cover a bit more so total miles on £58.50 is 451!
