Notable Mileage

Post by Grumpyjohn1957 » Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:27 pm

Collected the car from Sytner handover centre Friday 23rd October 2020.
1st Photo taken on the afternoon of Oct 24th, 2020, after a 140-mile familiarisation drive. Shows 8864 miles.
Two years and two days later, Oct’ 25th 2022. Now showing 48864 miles.

Put another way, that’s 40,000 miles of Cheshire cat smiles! :D :D :D

In that time, 3 sets of fronts, 5 sets of rears (with winters for late Nov to March).
50 litres of engine oil, 5 oil and 2 air filter sets, 3 wiper sets, 8 sparkplugs, full set of brake pads (at 40k), rather more petrol than I care to think about and oh, almost forgot, one new engine.

Next up at 50k, gearbox fluid, transfer box and diff’ oil change plus get the road rash sorted.
Retiring next year so hopefully the annual milage will drop by 12k+, she won't be chasing Charles’s total anymore.

That's some proper usage. :)

It makes me sad that the G2* series cars don't come with a dash like that. I'd love a newer 3-series, but not with the wanky angular instrumentation that they have nowadays.

An excellent effort and happy to have a challenger 😀

Mind you, that's heavy tyre usage! I get 40k miles from the fronts and 20k from the rears. I guess that's what happens with loads more bhp 🤣🤣🤣

Fantastic John!

And agree with Matt on the dash layout. Only the early G3* B5s got these proper dials, I'm sure they changed to the backwards ones even before LCI. They are awful imo.

40k miles in 2 years is not bad John, but my D5 Touring covered 85K miles before its first MOT!
