Absolutely - it looks a great car. Fingers crossed you can do a deal.

Doubt it will sell quickly Toby, hoping it works out for you
Thanks guys, it was a hard decision but we’ve decided against this one, there is too much risk with an E39 in regards to rust and daily use- I suspect there may be more lurking within this one.

Do you guys really think that B10 will be around for a while? Considering how rare they are I would’ve thought it would get snapped up asap
Hard to say how long it will stick around, it was previously offered as a private sale between Dec-19 to Feb-20 for £11k, no takers apparently, but James Paul have a reasonable track record selling ALPINAs and there is anecdotal evidence of interest in this car, time will tell i guess.

Dealer did the classic “I’ve had 7 phone calls today” spiel which I doubt, but possible. The owner that had it from Dec 19 did 10000 in it and put a lot of mechanical issues right including a gearbox rebuild at Bristol transmissions In February. The cooling system had a lot of work in August and reading technician notes there was a lot of over heating and rough running.

Bob I’m sure I saw you posting in Facebook group about looking an an E39 ;)

That’s a shame Toby, E39 are solid cars but will of course require a bit of attention to keep tip top. The 3.3 is a fantastic engine and has that classic straight 6 sound, but appreciate these are old cars now so not for everyone.

I think it’s priced quite strong and at this time of year and with COVID etc the market is subdued.
Put it this way it didn’t sell quickly last year at 10k.

That was a bit of research for a friend, they're looking for an individual. Trouble is, this one is about 3x over budget :doh

E39’s are lovely and it would be nice to have two 3.3’s but as we’ve run out of garage and carcoon spaces we wouldn’t be able to maintain it. The work that has been done on the car in the past year totals around 3.5k so it adds up- I don’t think the price is too far off but could certainly come down at least 1500.

I had a difference response from the dealer on the 3.3 mentioned. I called them yesterday and provisionally arranged for a friend to go and have a look at it. But when he called today he was told by a different sales guy that they are not open for viewings let alone test drives, he went on to say that he would fully expect someone to pay the asking price without seeing it in the flesh!! Needless to say the prospect of purchasing an 18 year old car without an inspection is not something I was willing to do.
Shame as it seems a nice spec.
The sales guy I spoke to did also mention it had recently had a recond gearbox fitted (as per my other thread) not sure if this will be the right Alpina spec.

If anyone knows of similar cars for sale please let me know.

Thanks
James

I sent you a PM regarding this car, interesting they are now saying no, seems a lot like the rust is scaring them from letting anybody else see the car! The showroom is very much open and has all the precautions in place so that’s just BS.

James, sending a PM with a contact. In the right hands, at the right price it will be a nice car assuming the mechanics are ok. Sad to hear had issues previously selling the car. Dues make one wonder why.

Sold the 320D yesterday and picked up the 550i, the condition of it is insane, genuinely looks 6 months old or less. It’s almost like it’s been pulled from a museum. Trying to find things that aren’t right with it is a proper challenge

First and probably the only job to do bar installing CarPlay is removing the tints. It has blinds and clear glass just suits the car

It’s so composed to be in and the power delivery is very smooth.

Yep that was the one Paul linked at the start of the thread, looks like it’s done <1,000 miles not 47,000

Took the tints off this evening, will get some more photos tomorrow once it’s had a clean
