How to spec a 7 series...

Post by ttrill » Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:22 pm

Shame it isn’t an Alpina however, this is proper... shame bmw doesn’t allow the steering wheel to be all wood as wooden steering wheels are really right up there 8)

Agreed, it is a lovely spec example. One thing I've noticed on 7 is the lighter interiors tend to have carpet in the same shade, which looks nice but will be nightmare to keep mint. Prefer black carpet (and not just the overmats)

Very true, I do find the contrasting colours helps break up lighter interiors too.

Does anyone else think the B7 should have this engine? I guess it made sense to use the V8 from the B5 that they had already developed, but seems a shame they are no longer V12 when an engine exists that they could use.

I know you refer to the modern wooden wheels, but saw this on my feed this morning and thought I'd share Toby:

I too love wooden steering wheels.
I have a more modern leather Nardi in my Golf and it's the best wheel I've ever held.

I agree Paul, I see the cost savings from Alpinas view but it would be so cool to see another V12 Alpina especially as they are low volume so do not have to meet the strictest of regulations for emissions.

This particular model is a special edition. 100 have been made globally but there are 11 RHD cars with only 3 coming to the UK. All are Centennial Blue with a Smoke White Merino leather interior.

There's a little more detail here...

I’ve got that on my to watch list also!

Nardi make some fantastic steering wheels. They were standard fit on quite a few Japanese cars in the 90s, so they featured on the grey imports that made it over here.
One of my favourite all time wheels is the Nardi in the 22B.

100%. Alpina have a rich V12 history. We should petition them to make a new B12!

A B12 7 & 8 series combo would be amazing. Could be the perfect opportunity to so: New 8 series and still they have time before pure ICE is banned. Hmmm :eh
