Wider cars + Monaco = racing fail

I love Monaco for its history but as a race it is a complete and utter waste of time.

Give me 85-95 (non-active) chassis with 2017 engines and components - and go racing.

I picked up the Alpina last night!! Apart from it looking a little frumpy on its 18" winter wheels (it has been in that long) the car looked perfect - including a nice clean outside and in. She feels exactly the same as she did before - wonderful ride, great start up note and fantastic muscular deli...

My mechanic popped into the BMW dealer yesterday and sent me these back http://theALPINAregister.com/forums/userpix/21095_image2_1.jpg http://theALPINAregister.com/forums/userpix/21095_image3_1.jpg http://theALPINAregister.com/forums/userpix/21095_image1_1.jpg Meanwhile I will be picking the Morgan ...

PhillV8S wrote:Good news on the warranty paying out, what was the final diagnosis of the leak?
The seal on the coolant transfer pipe in the V. A "common" N62 issue - with a round 10% of engines experiencing it. The Morgan also has a N62 engine

There is good news - its not terminal. There is even more good news - the warranty company will pick up all the parts and labour costs There is bad news - I will have to pay for fluids These is good news - it means the service will be reset There is bad news - the part is on back order - expected in...

In recent years BMW M has taken to producing cars which seem to have copied Alpina's template. Where will Alpina find its next niche to exploit a BMW range gap? Does Alpina see a future in its D models? Where does Alpina standard on hybrid technology? And does it worry it might be left behind as man...

Mechanic waiting on 2 things:
1) Confirmation to proceed with the repair from the warranty company
2) BMW expert to help inspect the engine for damage

There are concerns that there might be additional damage and that any Alpina specific parts might make it uneconomical to repair

4 Alpinas - all with the proper badges.

I can understand putting fake Alpina badges on a fake Alpina - but putting them on a real Alpina seems crazy. (Says the man with non-original stripes).

Green
You wanted to order it in Alpina Green :D

I can thank you though on behalf of everyone who despises black leather interiors for going for something non-black 8)

Re: Finally Ordered It

Just noticed you listed Weald of Kent, so got my answer! I wish I could drive my B6 on some of those roads out your way instead of the New Jersey turnpike :D Get on to your dealer - and/or contact Alpina directly. I can see no reason why stripes would pass US type approval. I'm in Switzerland - so ...

I saw the AGA one earlier - it looks like a rather nice bit of kit.

My mechanic has also already mentioned better quality after market replacement parts - so we'll see what they warranty covers.

"Uh oh" "Oh cock" "Bugger" Or other such reactions! The mechanic has located the leak - but it is somewhere in the V - not quite sure as he is a nightmare to understand on the phone. He has pinged off a request for parts from BMW/Alpina - and is expecting a bill of 8,500chf back. He is worried water...

Re: Finally Ordered It

I reallllly wanrted Alpina badges until I read your forums :-)... not to start up a debate that seems to be well covered in the past.. so, we'll see on those. Sod the badges - go for the stripes :) Sadly, it's a lease, so I think I will run into problems .. If I end up buying it off lease I may do ...

Mechanic collected the car at the weekend as he was in the area :)

Am hoping to get the car back soon. We have 3 cars and only really need 1 most of the time
