Re: G2x - Gloss Centre Console Panel

I believe it’s standard. The galvanic embellishment changes the 5 central HVAC buttons and the window switches in the doors from black to silver plastic.

Re: G30 dynamics?? Hmmm Thoughts

Whilst I agree it would make sense for the Classic to be the default wheel with the Dynamic as the option, it’s worth noting that the Classics on the G2x are forged and 3.5kg lighter per corner. Though I wouldn’t claim that the average punter is going to notice the reduction in unsprung mass in such...

Re: WANTED: F31 D3

Looks like #61 That's the one James Paul sold in Jan-21. It's had at least 3 owners prior to James Paul selling it this year. Sytner sold it May-18 Buyer from Sytner (presumably Owner2) was advertising it as '1 previous owner' from Sep-18 and ultimately sold/px'd it to James Paul in Apr-19. Then it...

Re: B3 no. 200 collected yesterday

I hope you don’t mind the O/T diversion Hawmaws but there’s a small collection of G2x owners/prospective owners (what would an appropriate collective noun be?) who have commented on this very thread who may or may not need a further heads up regarding the steering intervention issue raised by church...

Re: Extending a Vehicles Warranty

From a strictly rational perspective it’s not worth it since the warranty provider sets the prices in such a way that means they will turn a profit, so the odds are that on average you will pay more in premiums than you will get back in warranty work. This ignores the fact that a subset of people ca...

Re: Stone chip on alloy

I agree good advice and it’s what I’ve done, minus the sanding part, mostly because I’m not as handy as some of the folk on here and didn’t want to make it worse. I can live with the cosmetic flaw; as you say Marc there will be more to come. Specifically this particular wheel design is going to be a...

Re: Alpina D3/B3 G20 Kidney Grill vs BMW M3 G20 Kidney Grill

Alpina front end each and every time. However, I have to say as someone who initially thought the new 4-series and M3/4 front end looked gopping, they are growing on me and it genuinely does look better in the metal. I remember the Bangle cars causing outrage before the social media era and now thos...

Re: Sytner Nottingham and my B4

As courtesy cars go it's a cracker. The paddles are an option (a tick over £200 IIRC) so the buttons haven't gone yet; I think I read somewhere than Andy Bovensiepen prefers the buttons as they're an Alpina tradition but they bowed to pressure from customer feedback to add the paddles as an option; ...

Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?

It was Monday rather than today. And it was nothing more exciting than a wash and quick top up with wax/drying aid. But managed to capture a nice shot of the car in full purple livery.

Re: 20" wheel alternatives in 19"

My opinion is perhaps not wholly relevant as I have a different car, but it is bigger and heavier than a B4 and the ride is perfectly good (remarkably so, given the chassis dynamics and minuscule tyre profile) on 20's; it's part of the Alpina MO. One would assume the 19's would ride even better but ...

Re: Stone chip on alloy

Thanks Adam, funnily enough I was just searching on detailing world for some tips on a DIY job based on similar advice to yours from elsewhere.

Lepsons would only do a full refurb but going down that route for what as you rightly say is a very small blemish is the route to madness.

Re: Stone chip on alloy

That's a bit of a bugger! I'd probably speak to one of the specialists like Lepsons to get an opinion. That aligns with my thoughts at this stage Bob. I don't suppose you know what the paint code for the silver CS20 wheelset is do you? Silver "Lacquer 03" according to Alloy Wheels Direct though I'm...

Stone chip on alloy

I’ve got a stone chip on one of the alloys on my B3. I’m not as bothered as I thought I might be, possibly because it’s not a result of carelessness on my part. As a result I’m not desperately keen to have it repaired unless the procedure is minimally invasive. As per the pic below, the chip has gon...
