I have come to realise that speed isn't everything

It isn't. Balance and control is. Along with the ability to quickly remove whatever speed you may be carrying

Re: TWR restored E28

Someone's been on the sauce: firstly when fitting the front (apparently) bent bumper and the OSF plough corner. Then secondly when sticking their index finger into the wind and going for a near £100k asking price.

Pretty thing, but I'm not convinced of value or build quality

Re: Alpina Has No Intention Of Going Electric

Know a bit about this as involved in R&D, government corridors, innovation centres and know more of infrastructure and especially the hydrogen avenue. I also drive a milk float daily having been an 'early adopter' and its brilliant: sorry guys. :D but I know full well electric is only PART of the fu...

Re: Humble Pie

Agree with your thoughts about the lighter front end of 4 pot D3 . Not as ballistic as the current crop of probably the last fossil fuelled cars but the style of the E90/1/2/3 range fits me like a glove. Spot on comments about these fantastic cars. The balance of the 4-pot chassis is what makes it ...

Re: E93 B3 S BiTurbo #231

Not sure why, but the E93 B3S' have the highest concentration of bespoke interiors of any UK ALPINA model I've seen. I wonder how many of these were originally demo cars, and therefore specified a 'little differently' in an effort to persuade purchasers of the value of differentiation from the norm...

Re: Alpina D3 Tyres

Bobby I find this a bit extreme, ok I get some manufacturers get tyres developed for specific cars (veyron) due to the speed and load ratings, but mostly it’s whatever is in the parts bin. Extreme? Not really. Until recent models, Alpina had a strong bond with Michelin pilot sport tyres and develop...

Re: Alpina D3 Tyres

OP, you don't mention whether the uneven inner wear rate is front, rear or a mix of both. If it is the rear (very common on BMW models, and often missed by owners) then a 4 wheel alignment is required and that is a specialist job. The figures are in your Alpina supplementary handbook and are unlikel...

Re: Rear springs for 2011 D3 Biturbo E91

KYB: are you serious? They'll be rusted out in 3 years and need replacing again. These are bargain bucket pattern parts and best avoided unless a cheap short term fix is required. Go for Sachs, Bilstein or another brand: as long as it's equivalent to the OEM part it will handle fine. Always replace ...

Re: Black Alpna Classics

Unless you can put up with them scratching/swirling and chipping to show the base material, I'd say avoid them. Went full black once and regretted it almost immediately as road grime scored them badly. One of my cars is bicolour now (base gloss black with large machined areas in lacquer only, which ...

Re: XB7 Utter madness

In the spirt of "be kind" and "if you cant say anything nice don't say anything at all", i do quite like the two tone seats... I don't understand this: why does the post have to be positive, or not at all? Sounds a little too controlling for my tastes. It's not an individual being criticised: it's ...

Re: E46 B3S

Good luck with the search, OP. Lovely cars and engines. However, head gasket failure on the 3,4S motor has nothing at all to do with maintenance regime . The gasket is not lubricated or directly cooled and the failure is a result of ALPINA being highly enthusiastic and taking the bores out to a diam...

It is just so frustrating that they just no longer seem to care and that it is the customer that has to chase them for the job they should have done in the first place. I really do not think I will buy from them ever again. This. In our experience for a very long time. In the early 00's we used Lei...
