I was sure it would have went a bit higher. Time of year or Covid coupled with colour and interior?
Yes, plus that its had replacement rear wings, boot lid and bonnet probably didn't help.

If I was 10 years younger and you were 100 miles nearer I'd have done it! Good luck and hope all goes well with the box this time round.

Re: E36 3.2 Headgasket DIY

A colapsed lifter would surely not be the cause of no/low compression as the valve would not open fully, thus the air could not escape. Your problem is air escaping.

Perfect job on the leather and keeping that stitching original and Simons decals look great. Now get that V8S finished!

Re: E36 3.2 Headgasket DIY

No compression sounds like it might be stuck/bent valves.

Didn't realise there was another V8S up this side of the border.
There was a silver B10 V8S (number 76) that lived in Edinburgh, don't know if its still there now though.

Re: Information for B10 V8S owners

I bought a genuine BMW 740d thermostat from a German ebay seller as he included a plug in resistor that is needed to stop an error code being stored. I haven't fitted yet but plan on doing it in the next week or two. This one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thermostat-88-Umrustkit-mit-Widerstand-fur-BMW-...

Re: Information for B10 V8S owners

Brian, while your cars having work on the cooling system it might be worth swapping the thermostat for one for a 740D. It runs at cooler/more normal temperature so not so much strain on the system, part number 11512248542. Google it, well known mod for BMW V8 petrol engines
