I thought this was starting to be common knowledge. BMW and their dealers already know about the chain issues, and it's not just related to this engine. I have heard main dealers forced to buy back cars with 60K only as replacement engine needed! One thing I have found, if you want to know a common ...

Good news Simon Many blocks did just have C27 or something similar. Don't worry about air con, just adds weight and spoils performance. If you wnt to know what your dash plaque should read, check out your ECU. All the details should be in there linking engine No etc, all taped up with Alpina sticky ...

By the way, don't be supprised if it has B3 labels (tyre pressure etc) as Alpina had more or less run out at that time

Hi Simon, If documented correctly as you are doing a great job of already, I don't see a value issue at all. Colour does not seem to affect value at all. A proper restoration as you're doing is worth much more IMO than any colour. Colour change through the DVLA is easy, but I don't think I'd worry a...

Must admit, I've voted black too for originality sake, but agree blue does look stunning.
If you do choose Alpina Blue, (just to be awkward) do you go for the period '80s blue or the newer mixes. Alpina green has changed several times and getting a period mix is getting harder and harder

Me thinks someones being a little optomistic. I'd love to see the dash plaque. If my memory serves me, the minimum base car E30 Alpina would consider was a 320i, due to brakes etc. I'm afraid this is definitely not what it is trying to be......

This is fantastic news and long overdue. Hope the car performs as well as it looks. Just read through the job descriptions on the Alpina web site, I'm not qualified for any listed, but if they're looking for someone to test drive (or just hang around with a brush in the garage) count me in :o

Hi Mate My friends unmolested B9 has the black wheel centres and to be honest I don't think I've ever seen an original set any different. The B9 has chrome wheel studs too and looks great. If you're in the UK, the best place I have found for wheel restoration (and many BMWCC friends use them also) i...

The new P7 is not as good as the original P7 or P700. I would still go for a Pirelli tyre for originality, but look at the PZero options. Have looked into this for a friend of mine with a B9, fronts are a directional tyre and rears are asymmetrical. Check out the Pirelli web site. If you intend to d...

Hi mate Restoration of any Alpina is quite costly and cannot be done in my opinion on the grounds that it may be "financially worth it" (not in the short term at least). Doing it as an engineering excercise and knowing you've saved the old girl from the breakers yard though is much more rewarding 8)...
