Re: B3S touring #029: Hodge's old car

Congratulations: and a very fair price, too.
Look forward to seeing more about your ownership experience. Hopefully no major issues show, and a service and away you go. Enjoy 8)

Re: B3S touring #029: Hodge's old car

Looking at the comments on Collecting Cars, it seems the car has spent time in Northern Ireland and could have more than the four previous owners that DVLA records show. Plus MOT records for a significant protion of the car's history (while in NI) are unavailable online. Then there's the lack of re...

A dealer in Ebbw Vale had it from Feb-Sep-18 then it moved to the dealer in Narbeth who had it Sep-18 to Jun-19
That is quite correct

That’s #452 Ade, which is Monaco Blue rather than Black. It was rear ended a few years ago and repaired, now owned by a chap who frequents some of the Facebook groups.
I'm sure you're right, Bob, as I'd not realised how dark Monaco is! I'll fling you the pic privately so you can confirm :D

Re: B3S touring #029: Hodge's old car

So, I think we can reasonably conclude that: - some cars have a clear plastic sticker over the VINs and some don't ... I can rest easy now ah.... but there appears to be another, albeit subtle, difference in those with plastic covering the VIN In Ade/Bob's photo above, the air bubbles appear to ind...

Re: E90 D3Biturbo FJ60LZL 10/06/22 Pembrokeshire

That’s #232, it’s Montego Blue rather than ALPINA and has been spotted around that area before but Bobbly. https://thealpinaregister.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=25180 Cheers Bob! Could have been any shade of blue (I'll say no more on that ) and if it's been spotted by Bobbly previously, a...

Black E60 B5s Oulton Park 12/06/22

Third party spot!

Black E60 B5s GB08ALP spotted entering Oulton Park touring car parking at around 09:10 today by friend who's embedded in one of the touring car teams for the day. Looking very shiny, indeed 8)

Re: B3S touring #029: Hodge's old car

Thanks Ade I'll have some custard with my Humble Pie please :P No need for humble pie, Ali, although the custard sounds good :drool . It always amused my engineering brain that Alpina rounded these engines up in badging terms, whereas the number should technically be rounded down as its below 3350c...

E90 D3Biturbo FJ60LZL 10/06/22 Pembrokeshire

Blue (I think alpina blue) D3Biturbo FJ60LZL spotted 18:00hrs 10/06/22 A477 in Pentlepoir heading in Tenby direction. Lady driving. I was heading opposite way in the 330D. I think this may be a local car/regular visitor as I'm sure I got a photo of its rear side quarter when it passed our house just...

Re: B3S touring #029: Hodge's old car

Not one of my various Alpinas had a plastic cover over the VIN. I have mislaid most of my Alpina pix due to a half-assed pc swap, but I found a very old one on my phone....I've sent it to Bob to post as I can't remember how to! B3SBiturbo #127 had the said plastic cover, and I'm 100% sure another d...

Perry's part assessment is correct. I wonder where he found that information
A long while back, some bugger in Wales took the time to drop me an email during a break between sheep-worrying sessions...

Interesting, I’m sure I’ve seen pics of cars with the sticker pealing off. Wonder how it ended up like that then? :think
I'm sure at least one of mine had a clear 'plastic' cover over the dual VIN, Bob.

Re: B3S touring #029: Hodge's old car

Perhaps some one should let them know it's a 3.4l not a 3.3 3346cc, so nearer 3.3 than 3.4, so technically correct if that's their aim. Alpina were slightly inflating the badging :P Damn good job this wasn't on the market 2 weeks ago or I'd have bought it. But then emotionally I'd probably not have...

Re: Roadster s brakes?

I've got a slight juddering through the steering wheel when I brake. Finding the cause of the judder is primary concern and is normally caused by brake pads being immobile or having restricted movement inside the calipers. This then causes the pads to rub against the high spots on the disc(s) as th...

Best ensure they did a good repair on the near side rear bumper
Foolish to leave pictures of the car in an unfinished state in their pic pack.

Otherwise, looks tidy. Hope they've not done their usual ruining of an otherwise nice car.
