Returning Alpina-owner saying "hi"

After 8 months in a garage, my Alpina B3 3.3 is back on the road.
It does need some work (xenons, brakes, suspension, rust inside rear door, brake lines, ...), but I'm happy to be Alpina-ing again. :)

It's good to be back.

Sell the car from you to the company on the cheap. Company makes a loss on the car which can be offset against tax and you get a cheap Alpina Win - win situation That's the plan, but the divorce is costing me money. Can't afford to buy it from myself at the moment. The Alpina is never going to be c...

New BE tax laws: taking the B3 off the road

Our fantastic new Belgian tax laws have forced me to take the B3 off the road. I can no longer afford to keep 2 cars running, because they've reorganized (read: increased) the tax advantages for company cars (I have my own company). Keeping the 2 cars would mean paying an extra €6000 (GBP5000) in ...

It looks to me like the new B5 Biturbo has been topped off at 540hp and 730Nm.
Perhaps this was done to avoid upsetting the M5 (560hp and 680nm)?

Thanks, guys, for the physics lesson ;)

Since everything to do with braking has been replaced, it only makes sense that something else is misbehaving.
I will need to get bushings, joints, top mounts checked.

I would guess wheel imbalance, brake pad material transfer to the discs (parking up with hot brakes), or suspension control arm bushings. I think you've covered the brake parts potential issues so maybe try a wheel balance? On an E28 I believe that these symptoms are classic tired control arm bushi...

So, Bilstein B6s are a good replacement for the standard Alpina Sachs (!) dampers? Good to know. Charles, is the car on its original springs? Aren't they corroded at all after 190k miles? ;) Would a set of Eibach Pro springs lower the car, you think? How is the ride comfort with the B6s, compared to...

Hubs,rotors,caliper,pads,fluid replaced; still wobble!

Back story: While running on BMW OEM rotors and pads, the car developped a steering wobble while carefully braking from 70 mph. Went to see the BMW stealer, who said it could only be due to the brake rotors. So I replaced them myself with ATE rotors and at the same time replaced pads front and rear ...

I have been monitoring my consumption with spritmonitor.de since I got the car 34000 miles ago.

The calculated average is 27,8 mpg.
Early this year I did an eco-"run" (1 full tank) and managed to get 36.877 mpg.

It would have to be something that's affordable to tax and run. Base BMW model: F30 328i (4-pot 2.0-liter BiTurbo, 240hp) Power in bhp: 280hp; anything above 211hp is taxed at €5000, but yearly tax will be low Torque in lb ft: pound-feet? No idea ;) 400Nm MPG: 30 Price: €40000 Styling comments: ...

B10 Biturbo Limited Edition 10th Anniversary (Japan)

For sale in Japan: a B10 Biturbo Limited Edition 10th Anniversary. According to this picture, number 6 of 10. It's listed as a '95, but that's when it was imported into Japan. Maybe it's a Japanese thing, and the just slapped on some other center caps? http://picture1.goo-net.com/957/9570973/J/9570...
