Re: E60 B5 (Base motor: N62B44A) oil pump chain drive tension

Don't know about the tolerance but it looks a bit dry! aye, you're not wrong, my understanding of the mechanics of the sump, is that under normal operations that whole shaft is drenched in oil returning from the upper motor areas. So i think it takes care of the concern. Buchloe confirmed that this...

E60 B5 (Base motor: N62B44A) oil pump chain drive tension

Hey Folks, Per subject, I've got my B5 in the workshop right now for replacement of the lower and upper oil sump seals/gaskets as there was excessive oil leak/weep picked up in the TÜV/MOT inspection. My car is the E60 B5 (Base motor: N62B44A). I've noted there is a fair amount of play in the oil pu...

Hi all, so I have finally bought myself a B5(S)! And was very much enjoying ownership until it suddenly decided not to start one morning, within less than a week of buying it :( Basically, it would crank but not fire. BMW came out to the car and said it was an issue with the immobiliser, however no...

Re: B5 E60 Buying Info

I have now decided to try and locate a good B5 E60! Some background - I have moved to Berlin from England last year and this will be my first purchase in Germany. I have a few B5's ready to go and view. Both pre facelift and have covered over 180000km. I can't find anything specifically advising wh...

Sounds like a Saw bench :( , madness to rev that hard if the engine was cold. Yes, the noise is uncharacteristic by my experience also. Saw bench is right! My memory is its normally near silent and the airflow is the main noise one hears. Regarding revs, the charger is active above circa 1200 RPM. ...

This thread was very helpful, so I thought I'd resurrect it with new/fresh info. My car was at a workshop in Germany since Monday, and I picked it up today. It went in for a brake skim and MOT. I enclose a record of the invoice and notes from the workshop, for my future benefit, and in hope of assis...

Greetings from Germany

I hope the ALPINA life has been treating you all well :) Its been a while since I've logged on I'll admit! 81 pages of "new posts" wow... no chance I'm gonna be able to catch all that up! Did I miss much? The last big thing I remember was when a B5 from Scotland loosed its in...

Request for advice eps. motor mechanics!

I'd love the ear/brain of any motor innard savvy folks! Our B5 has been down in Buchloe since its winter service and I'm excited like a little kid to go and jump in it this week and drive the 400km north back to our area. Over the winter, I had a new charger installed, I put it off a while and now I...

nothing to worry about. If/when it does start to consume oil then its likely the seal in the super charger. This can be checked easily on a ramp. If its the charger oil seal you'll need a new charger and pronto, to avoid: * oil in the wrong parts of the motor * carbon build up esp. on outlet valves ...

Check my signature for a detail log of our B5's consumption.

I need to update with the latest paperwork, you should still get a good idea.

Greetings from Snowy Germany! I hope you and yours have been keeping well and having a good start in 2012! I need a favour, and quickly. Its related to a car for sale in London. Sadly not an ALPINA, hence posting in the General Chit Chat section! Is there anyone near the North London area, NW2/Wembl...

Sounds like a plan tbh. I've been very happy with TSW alloys that I've owned in the past.
