Hi, please don't give up on this car. The Z4 forum is full of info and the 2nd hand prices of this car are shooting out the roof. I spent a few days sorting out a friends roof motor. They get immersed in water and short out but do not burn out. It's a fortune to repair going the root of removing the...

I don't really see this as a comparison about Diesel/Petrol as being an Alpina forum for enthusiasts then Alpina just like Carlsberg does it well for both fuels. I may be wrong but think the latest rendition of Diesel cars to pass Euro 6 has be below 80mg NOX per Kg of fuel. But petrol cars emit a l...

It's going to take some convincing most people to change to Petrol, the last 10 years research gone into improving Diesel cars performance and consumption is immense and who the hell will change buses, trucks & trains etc to alternative fuels. Thank the lord Janet's got a 1.5 3 cyl mini so our famil...

Hi everyone, long time since I posted but in the market for a replacement for our 2015 520D estate I share with my son. I'm a bit nervous now buying a replacement diesel, the green quarters has woken up to NOX emissions and inner city polloution problems and blame lying with the diesels wether buses...

Not really, it was in a different area to the two coupes, never mentioned, but I did see it yesterday on the way out. Twice the mileage of the other two cars but looks well cared for and has excellent spec.

Sadly I wasted another hour with the salesman and never bought anything. Humble apologies. Test-drove the D3 driving experience simply awesome, steering and the engine perfect, easily outperforming my previous B3. Similar discount as the B3S with 750 knocked off. Mulling this over later the D3 did n...

Thats the rub of course with it being 10 year old technology versus modern.
I was offered a great deal on a 140i but, and I do agree great engine/gearbox combo, but mine was not great on long distances with too much wheel noise in the cabin.

Cost wise not too bad, 290 road tax and 250 quote for the insurance.
Regards diesel/petrol debate have recently been driving a M135i and the 520D both exceptional in their own way, but the B3 sound makes it special and certainly a great place to be in.

A yearning to come back

Hi everyone, a few years missing but still looking regularly at this wonderful web site. Popped into Nottingham Sytner today intention to buy a 435D at 28000. The better half has a 5 door mini cooper which is simply perfect for day to day use and will not be sold. I have a 50/50 share of a 520D whic...

I think it's more complicated than simply poor residuals. BMW (all ranges) are massively discounted and buying an Alpina you will be lucky to get free car mats, so when you sell your 50K D3 after a couple of years you will be pitching against a brand new 335D for 35K or a year old one for less than ...

What a wonderful thread. There years since I sold the B3 and probably dream every day about owning an Alpinas when I'm away working on the ship. I don't have a past favourite, all four of them have been great in their own peculiar way. Ken mentioned the hard ride of the roaster and Janet hated the u...

Thanks Ali/James for the views, Not really bothered about the run out model, it's about the same costing as 1 series or a small golf, audi and gets our money for the shear value of money. GFV is this a clause in leased cars? I thought it was simply handed over and an assessment taken on fair wear an...

Possible lease of 520D

Well the years are catching up and nearly 66 but still enjoy the beautiful life working on my cruise ship which keeps me young at heart. But this post is about going 50/50 with my son ...
