Might be an airlock. Follow the correct fill procedure which everybody gets wrong. Open the water valve to the heater by setting the temp to max with the ignition on. Open the coolant bleed valve and fill until you get no air bubbles from the bleed valve. Shut the bleed valve. The system will be ove...

Charles, Can't answer your question, these days. However, the thermostat for the gearbox cooler is a common point of failure, mine fell to pieces when I replaced the expansion tank and removing the pieces broke the plastic plate/molding/pipe thingy it connects to. Part number 17111437362. It is hidd...

Did u get this sorted Charles? If you are careful (very!) you can figure it out with a volt meter and a length of wire. All the wiring will end up at a junction box. From there you can check where the 'signal' from the timer is stopping. As said this is 240v so be careful. I had a similar problem an...

Well done Simon. For the record and anyone interested.... The coolant fill is straight forward if you do it by the book. Open the heating valve by turning the ignition on and the climate temp to max. Open the bleed valve (next to the fill point). Then fill up with 50/50 until it leaks from the bleed...

What did you use to read the error code? Inpa? Or a generic code reader? If the wheel sensors are all good, the next likely suspect is the pressure sensors on the master cylinder. They are capacitive sensors and when old give noisy signals. When the ecu figures out the reading are not plausible, it ...

Hi Simon. That's new. It is a electrical problem. The ecu is seeing either a short or open circuit immediately so is going into limp-home mode. I'd suggest you check the wiring loom carefully from the box to the auto ecu and the plugs involved. If you access to the wiring diagrams (the old spag-code...

 Just follow the instructions and get them fitted from the rear. It is nothing to do with 20" SUV wheels or narrow profile tyres. If you look at the face of an Alpina wheel it is very wide at the rim and the dish doesn't narrow, near the face, unlike like almost every other wheel made. When a ...

 Just stopped by and saw this. The vanos hasn't been off in my time (since high 60's). It was a little noisy at idle but as per usual for worn vanos units, especially with the very low idle that Alpinas have (much lower than the 330i). No symptoms of the events going on inside. Quite lucky th...

Hi all, A big thank you to everyone who got in touch to ask about the car. A very big apology to those PMs I didn't respond to. I was working until 12:30am last night and back up at 6am for another busy day. Thanks again to the mods. I have accepted a deposit from the 1st person who got me on the ph...
