| Review: | 20k & 15k miles on the rear tyres
Well BMW agreed that the rear tyres needed changing. That makes it 20,236 miles for the offside tyre and 15,500 miles for the nearside one.
The reason for the difference is probably mainly due to the use of unequal tyres - a lot of people only change tyres in 2's or 4's. I decided not to when the offside (drivers rear) got punctured at 18.5k miles. Couple reason for this - the price (£276) and just having twin girls. In the end the nearside lasted another 4,736 miles (23k miles).
I love stats so that is an average use of the 4 tyres of just over 19k miles / tyre.
In the end I bought them from Micheldever for £371.50 (£185.75 each). Which is a saving of £180.76 over what I paid last time and I was being quoted even more £280+ by BMW this time.
Christmas presents:
Regards fitting the local AA service garage has quoted £6.50 per tyre. So that is a net saving of £167.76 - not bad really and well worth a ring to Micheldever.
Change of plan the AA's tyre machine wasn't big enough !!
So in the end Sytner changed them for £9.87 each.
The tyres were too big to both fit in the boot. So one had to travel in the front passenger seat !
