E46 B3 S Touring #029

Big money for this ex-Sytner Presscar (£27.5k). Looks like a nice spec though, but for the money, the history details will be key I think.

Jesus on a pony that’s a price. I bought it in about 2006 from Sytner for £23k I think and part ex 2 years later I think for about £15k. Before I saw the price I was expecting about £12k

£27.5k? Seriously? The saloon for sale is £7700: think I'd buy that, a towbar and a small trailer and spend the rest on wine and song.

Seriously nice car with good provenance due to Mark's ownership period etc, but....seriously :?: :!:

Darren owned it in Northern Ireland, i nearly bought it off him back in about 2012-13 but ended up with no.104 instead

He had the valve chest rebuilt on the box iirc. This car is in all the old press stuff mags of the time when the B3S was launched

Its nice spec but the price is on drugs - this aint europe!

I don't know - I think that's an excellent price for a B3S Touring

#029 came over to the UK on the same lorry as mine back in 2003 and I remember several conversations with Chris Harris whilst he ran it as an Autocar long term test car :D

Having owned both, I won't enter that discussion :P I do appreciate the draw of NA engines, hence our ownership of one of the last NA flat-6 Porsches.

E91s are still depreciating,
E46 wagons are on the up but not to that extent

Agreed to a degree. I've monitored prices for many years, now, and E9x variants of petrol Alpina are fairly stable, and have been for quite a while taking dealer asking prices as the gauge (and that's excluding cars which have sat around for an age, too). The asking price for E46 B3/B3S is quite random, and a this particular car is a private sale, I think someone is simply trying it on.

Similar to Simon, I was sniffing around, and almost inhaled, this car when Darren was selling it in 2014 for £9-10k (not an easy sell back then), and if I were to be selling it now (which I in all likelihood wouldn't be!) I doubt I'd be this unrealistic. I won't go into reasons why I didn't buy, but at the time I had sold #285 and on my Macan waiting list and this fitted my needs. I bought the E61 535d instead when this fell away.

Are you sure this is a private sale Ade? The eBay seller acct is also selling some other heavy metal including the B10 3.2 Touring for £9.5k
