In car display not working as it should....

Post by Rav » Sat Aug 25, 2018 9:00 pm

As per my car thread, the sat nav unit in the B3 3.3 didnt work. I suspected the laser, so have ordered a new one from China. It will take a while to come and the Mk4 DVD system is in bits whilst I wait.

I didnt think that it would cause an issue not having it in the car. But - When i cleaned the car today, it looked very different!!

Any ideas if this is what should have happend? Why would removing the sat nav unti cause the overall appearance of the SW to change?

Just a thought as when I have updated software versions it's done on the nav drive so if you have removed the nav drive completely, I guess it reverts to another version of screen software on another unit (perhaps the head unit).

I would think it will return to what you are used to when you re-install the nav drive.

James

Has the widescreen been retro fitted :?: , as it looks like it has defaulted to the Mk2 or Mk 3 display.
When you refit the MK4 drive all should be well :D

Thanks for confirming @E24Man and V8 Ego.

I can now put yesterdays underwear on a boil wash as I was so scared i had broken something. :?

@B10BRW - Yes, the widescreen has been retro fitted at some point.

Delievery of parts from china may take up to 8 weeks, so i will have to live with this SW for now.

Full report when the parts arrive.
