Hi all

Iím the proud owner of Alpina D3 biturbo number 281.

I bought the car in May with 40,000 miles on the clock and have spent the last few months restoring it to as close to pristine condition as I can.

So far Iíve done the following:

New battery and coded to the car
Alloy wheel acid dip and powder coat back to silver (the wheels were black and scuffed when I bought the car)
Full front end respray. The car came with clear protective film which was tatty when I got the car. As I began peeling it off it stripped the clear coat with it.
Front and rear Alpina badges replaced.
Alloy wheel centre caps replaced.
Fully paintwork correction.
Returned the gloss black kidney grilles to standard chrome.
Replaced the chipped black biturbo badge with an aftermarket one.
Replaced the front non branded budget tyres with Michelin pilot sport.
Had the power steering motor control module rebuilt by ECU testing as the steering assistance failed.
Replaced the clock spring behind the steering wheel as it accidentally popped open when I removed the wheel to inspect the steering angle sensor.
Genuine bmw rear side window sun shades.
Painted wheel hubs and calipers silver to freshen them up.
Fitted silver Alpina sticker on front lip.

Wish list:
Respray or replace rear bumper (quite a few very small blemishes here and there)
Replace heater controls as buttons are worn.
Replace front Alpina badge with genuine article as aftermarket one has gone yellow already.
Replace wheel bolts as theyíre rusty.
Get a genuine spare wheel or tyre inflation kit as the car has neither.
Replace the 20w angel eye bulbs with 40w as theyíre hard to see in the daylight as daytime running lights.
Buy rubber mats for the autumn/winter.
Fix the vibration coming from the top centre of the dash!!

Thanks. The rear badge was black when I bought it. Funnily enough I called sytner a month ago to order chrome badges for the rear and they quoted £212. I then bought some from an Alpina D3 breaking on eBay and they arrived and were chipped and damaged so I sent them back and stuck with the black ones. But I get what you mean. I changed the black Alpina logo on the front lip to silver to match the wheels - so I did want to change the rear badges.

As for the front badge, I thought they were both Alpina, front and back? Sytner quoted £97 and found the front badge on my reg number. It also came with a metal Alpina badge when I bought it, although it was heavily delaminating and faded.

Oddly though, my neighbour has a D3 estate and both his front and rear badges are bmw. His centre caps and steering wheel badges are Alpina.

Ah ok thanks. Iíll replace them with genuine bmw badges then as the plan was to return the car to as standard as reasonably possible.

Any ideas on where I can source the badges without paying £212?

Thanks. Looks like they only have replica stickers rather than the proper lettering but worth a go. I think Iíll email them and ask if they can get hold of them.
