Rocky, it is a UK car only, never produced in Germany at all as it was created in response to the e23 745 that was available at the time in Europe, so it was built in Sytners workshop and was the 1st B10 made of the 22 planned.
Yes it was FS's car for a short while, and it was also the demonstrator to be used by all to advertise the new B10.
be good to see some photographs when you can. Been looking for this one for around 15 years !
But to clarify the Sytner connection, he took over as sole concessionaire/importer in 1983. And they were responsible for a number of variants only available here in the UK.

Hi everyone,
thank you all for the interest you have shown, the information you have given me and the encouragement to try and make it a proper job of restoring the car. I have taken some photographs of the car in situ and will post these when I get help to master the technology of downloading them onto the website. I will be moving the car shortly and will take more photographs by which time I hope I will have found out how to let you see them. Once the car has been removed from its present lock-up you will no doubt be able to help me to decide how best to proceed. Thank you AG for the information you have provided I will let Sytners know the position as it was they who told me that they believed the car must have been produced in Germany. Sadly they do not have a built sheet nor do they seem to have any other information in their records. They are however making enquiries and stuff who were employed in the 80s to see if there is any anecdotal evidence, however your detailed knowledge has probably made that necessary.
As this appears to be an important car I will try and keep you informed of the progress.

Gee, you make me blush..... But if I can help in any way then just drop me a pm, I'm just glad it survives.
From the build info I have here with me I can see when it was ordered/built/sold and the items fitted and where this was done. All from Sytner themselves at the time as we took that info directly from the build cards they were just about to throw in the skip!

you are quite right, some of the last UK supplied e28 B10's were made by Buchloe, ordered and collected by their owner from Alpina, and these feature an Alpina chassis number however no e23 B10 was made in Germany, they ceased to continue the e23 beyond the B9.
Also I thought the e34 was Alpina built and supplied, as per the e36 B3's etc as they had an Alpina vin. Mind you I don't know my e34's that well.

Good afternoon everyone,
I am hopeful that the car can be moved early next week. I will try and find someone who can help me to post the photos I have of the car in situ (dust and all). In the meantime I will have my fingers crossed that we will be able to get it started and that the restoration will not prove to be beyond my means.
Thanks for all your input
