Post by Aggie » Fri Jun 22, 2018 9:47 am

Hi all

My steering wheel is looking very tired, badly faded. I think it requires recovering. Can anyone recommend somewhere I can send it?

Not a recommendation because I haven't used them, but Royal seem well regarded.

I personally reccomend royal steering wheels, they refurbed my D3 steering wheel.

Thanks team. Is it possible to have it 're-coloured/dyed? It has no rips or chunks missing. It's just faded.

Cost was £175 and I'm still very pleased with it.

I've just ordered products from furniture clinic as mine needs doing also

I bought the items below as a starter and then see if it needs recolouring after this

Qty Item Price Total
1 8.5 fl oz (250ml) Leather Ultra Clean £12.95
1 4 fl oz (125ml) Leather Protection Cream £10.95
1 8.5 fl oz (250ml) Leather Degreaser £16.95
1 Sponge & Cloth Bundle £4.95

Total £45.80 inc VAT and free delivery, I will let you know how it goes and post pics etc

process as follows from their site

1) ultra clean
2) degreaser
3) ultra clean
4) protection cream

Guessing not to go anywhere near the stitching!!

Hoping to do this next weekend

I am also going to call them regarding the stitching. Figuring if the steering wheel needs a good clean then does the stitching, I will ask if any of the products have any adverse effects on it...

Stitching will be fine. Key is to be gentle with the agitation of the solution as the leather is delicate.
Choose a sunny day, the warmth helps lift the grease.
