F31 Steering Wheel options

Post by nbc » Wed May 30, 2018 12:27 pm

Afternoon all,

I'm loving my D3 Touring purchased a few weeks back now, it's a great car and very much a keeper.......unusual for me!

I have an alcantara fetish though so I'm looking to get the steering wheel re-trimmed but I'm slightly concerned come resale it might look a little dubious so my other option is to purchase a spare wheel already covered.(M Sport flat bottomed) the question is, do these flappy paddle wheels fit without modificatons at all please?

Many thanks
Neil

I think the paddles will work.
You are definitely best off going for a replacement wheel, as the original Alpina wheel is stitched with a horizontal stitch as is very difficult to replicate, so keep your original as it is in storage.

B3GTS have alcantara steering wheels. Whether this was standard or an option on them or not i'm not too sure.
I'm sure the 'sports steering wheels' that was an option with the D3 BT's are half leather/alcantara, so i'm sure if you were to get a full alcantara one, it wouldn't look out of place

If you go for a retrim, I've seen Royal get good reviews on various forums.

You can specify an Alcantara wheel on a new F3*, I've seen a few on the market with them fitted.
The only flag on the retrim was replicating the Alpina stitch, which for a purist would be off putting come sale time.

Royal do a fanatstic job, but last time I checked only do the cross stitch.
