air con .. decisions

Post by bene1989 » Sun May 13, 2018 1:50 pm

so my air-con has stopped working on my 2009 D3 Biturbo E91 touring ,, i asked them to take a look at it while it was in having its MOT done , and a re-gas has not solved it , with further inspection it need a new compressor , and to my shock this part is close to a grand !! (main dealer)
would you guys suggest trying to find a reconditioned part ? , has anyone else been through this? ,,, i want it sorting, as in typical fashion its broke just before the summer months are approaching ..

There are specialists who, depending on the fault, can do a repair. I think it's often the case that it is just the clutch unit on it that fails. Good luck.

I replaced mine with a non-OEM equivalent part from ECP. It was about £350 IIRC.

Works perfectly well :D

yes i would rebuild original or source decent aftermarket brand. I'm not sure whos OEM on BMW but the likes of seiko seke and denso used to supply on the older BMWs

find the part number by navigating yourself through realoem.com to find the part number (assuming is BMW and not Alpina changed part)

Possibly this:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpar ... Id=64_1597

and then put part number into ebay. it should list new bmw, old/recon bmw pattern parts available.
