Newbie question - brand new B3s
Hi All,
Pleased to have finally joined.
Car is a B3s Touring 2018.
Loving the car so far, despite the fact that it has been back to BMW twice since I got it last month. Frustrating to say the least.
The issue is the Drive train warning light that comes on sporadically - causing the car to go into limp home mode. Sometimes this happens, sometimes it runs absolutely perfectly.
The first time BMW (Haliwell Jones, Wilmslow) plugged into diagnostic machine and ran some updates. Car was fine for a few days and then the blasted warning light appeared again so it's back in.
Are BMW dealers to be trusted with Alpina's? Has anyone else had similar issues?
Car is fantastic - just hope this glitch is rectified so I can get on with enjoying an otherwise belter of a car.

Speaking from experience I would only trust Nottingham Sytners to look at an Alpina with tricky faults which are covered under warranty. Even some “Alpina†registered Sytners are worse than useless so a non Alpina BMW dealer would be hopeless as they don’t get to see the cars often enough to get any hard earned knowledge when it comes to fault finding in my opinion.

Great choice, would love to see some pics.
I had a similar issue with mine in the first few hundred miles. It happened twice. After stopping, turning it off and starting it again (that old chestnut) it was ok.
I was going to take it to a dealer but its not happened since (13,000 miles now).
Theres some completley useless information for you anyway. Hope it helped.

Still with BMW dealership/ service centre who have raised a ‘ puma ‘ alert. They seem to be holding their hands up and saying that they can’t diagnose the fault and have thus escalated to BMW central. I spoke with sytner who supplied the car and they advised that any BMW approved technician can work on Alpina. Indeed, Sytner do not have Alpina ‘specialists’. The head tech told me that alpina make the cars in such a way that they are compatible with all bmw diagnostic machines etc - so no ‘special’ training is required. So i feel somehwhat relieved by that - just want a fault free car back. My Caterham engine died yesterday too. Not a good week for cars! Luxury problems and all that.
