South-West meet...

Post by Jervint » Mon Apr 02, 2018 3:28 pm

Hi gents

Have learned that there is no Sytner meet this year, a shame but I completely understand. Was a real highlight for me as I really enjoy the drive there and back.

BMs on the Lawn which usually is on my birthday and a mile down the road has been moved to September, and calendar is light at the front end of the summer.

So this post is just to let you all know that we have several venues available to us in Weston-super-Mare if there is interest in an Alpina meet in addition to the normal calendar.

One venue is a pub on the A370. The other two are cafes. All three would offer good parking and food & drink. I can get photos of each site out up (how does everyone do this since photobucket went pear-shaped?!) and the tarmac is in good shape. I would insist on a pre-inspection for nails and screws of course. There are other venues also but wouldn't have refreshments.

Would anybody be interested in something like this? It wouldn't take much to organise, would be on a weekend and could happen any time in the next 3 months.

I did ask this on one of the Facebook pages a year or two ago but got a very tepid response...barely none at all actually. If you're not interested, a mention as to why would be very helpful.

Cheers

Chris

I understand that the Silverstone Classic will be instead of the Alpina meet in Nottingham this year, so I'm going there Friday and Saturday.

Also going to BM's on the Lawn on 2 September

Yes, I'm local and would be interested, depending on dates.

I am attending the ACE Cafe meet and the 3 days at Silverstone. I will no doubt do BM's on the lawn too.
There is also an opportunity at Gaydon although not sure anything organised?

Likewise its a fair flog for one day when I am already coming to that part of the world.

Suggest why not tag it on to the Sherborne Classic and speak to Tim Maltby who is arranging a stand for BMW Car Club? I am going to that also.

Do not confused the Sherborne concours this coming weekend with the Sherborne classic.

Ah yes. July is already a busy month for me...couldn't do it then.

Seems numbers would be low...

But a corker of a pic there by Mr 5!

I've No Idea, but I work on the bridge, so took the pic whilst it was closed for maintenance.

Here's another one, but further up the bridge...

Why dont you tie this up with BMW on the lawn at Weston Super Mare on 2nd September 18. I spoke to Rob from the BMW CC GB who is from Weston and organises it and he said he would be happy to have an ALPINA section there.

I normally make a weekend of it and come along to the event on a Sunday?

Alpinas are usually well represented at the Lawns. Not sure how that will go this year as being held in September. But worth considering.

The Alpina Z8 Roadster stole the show last year to be fair!
