No buyers guide on here just lots of knowledgable owners and enthusiasts.
Go through the history file with a fine tooth comb and cross reference service book with DVLA mot history check to make sure mileage stacks up.
Nothing really catastrophic goes wrong with the D3.
Make sure no signs of white smoke on cold start up.
Do insist on seeing car started from cold
Good luck and please report back your findings

Welcome aboard - check to see if the DPF (diesel particulate filter) has been changed in the exhaust. These tend to get blocked around the 100,000 mile mark and are expensive to replace (£1000++).

Not a expert from what I have read springs snap frequently and clutch and flywheel may need changing at higher miles

Anyone know it?
Couldn't get there this weekend so have booked a day off, to go see it this week.
Oh yeah forgot to add, when I done some checks on this comes back as 2 door and others have come back as 4 door. The V5 has been verified saying its a 2 door. Is that something to be wary about, or could it be just typo on the last change.
Also how much is the road tax on this car, as I cant seem to find it in my searching the internet?

Reading the advert the sellers clearly want nothing to do with the car and are selling as spare or repair with no warranty whatsoever.
I wouldn't touch it with a 50 foot bargepole
Plenty others out there with a lot less miles for a grand more than that one .

I'm with Ali on this one.
Widen your search and be patient as a much better condition and lower mileage one will be along in due course - unless you are confident about checking it over and spotting what needs to be done to get it up and running again.

Not quite*Sanky wrote:They way I’m looking at it is a bit of project, I’m okay with the spanners for the basic stuff.
And at the end of the day, it’s only a 320d engine with few exclusive mods. So I could just replace the engine, if it went badly wrong.
Think it’s all going to come down, how much I can get for.

I think what is being said is its not 'just' a 2.0d engine with a few trinkets thrown in.
But if you're good with the spanners and are willing to pay the price of some of the Alpina exclusive items used on these cars then go ahead, what is good for one is no good for another.
