B12 - very happy new owner
A long overdue post as I bought my B12 two months ago! No real excuse for this tardiness, other than the usual Christmas shenanigans!
B12 5.7 ekat no. 130, formerly owned by Mike Pitt, of this forum (hi Mike), thanks to Mike and Kevin for all the help and advice!
Overall this is a fantastic original car, with some cosmetic stuff to be sorted, all fairly flagged up by Mike of course. It feels a bit more sedate/ genteel than my previous Alpina foray with a B10 v8s (which was also Kevin's fault. ), which I think is a good thing all things considered. Always loved the E38 and this is very special.
Plan is to use the car for family holidays. Got some work to do before summer comes.....

My previous posts show how painful it has been to part with such an amazing car after nearly 14 years, but I'm sure that you are exactly the new owner I've been looking for, Drew, and will improve and look after the car.
Still suffering with withdrawal symptoms - it's well over 25 years with at least one Alpina in the garage.
I'm sure the car will continue to give you the same level of pleasure and reliability that it has given me - I think it's not yet half way through it's useful life.

I remember last year when you (Kevin) and Mike came to the Warwick meet. Lovely pair of B12’s.
I too attempted to get this car a few years ago but Mike decided he wanted to keep it awhile longer so no sale🙁.
Cracking car, enjoy.

Re: B12
There's probably some long multi syllable word in German to describe that sense of stewardship and responsibility and honour in owning a rare and desirable car like this, but I don't know it, I only did GCSE!!Mike Pitt wrote:My previous posts show how painful it has been to part with such an amazing car after nearly 14 years, but I'm sure that you are exactly the new owner I've been looking for, Drew, and will improve and look after the car.

I have previously run a "collector's" mk2 golf gti (ultra low miles, multi concours winner, cleaned inside the wheel arches, etc.) as a family run about and you know, I think it appreciated getting out a bit. Same applies here, apart from the starting low miles; the B12 will be used but is already starting to show the signs of my two girls taking full ownership of the rear seats. They love it BTW, so much more room than in a Golf!
But the interior is not currently in photo condition as a result. Plus I've got dash partially in bits to fit an Intravee, which is a bit involved due to the early DSP set-up.
Here are some of the engine bay....

Another big thumbs up for the E38 generally; this one especially as an Alpina.
I had a new E38 on hire for a trip to Berlin from Koln in 2000 then running round Berlin for a few days. Fabulous things.
