Chipping a D3

Post by vv3bby » Wed Dec 20, 2017 2:57 pm

Hi all,

I have been contemplating on how to increase the BHP / torque on my D3.
I've come across this company but unsure if it would be possible or if it would put additional stress & strain on other components within the engine itself?

Does anybody have any advice? (apart from upgrading to a D3BT)

This has been discussed a number of times in the past and responses tend to centre on the following key points:

- ALPINA have already tweaked the EMU to optimise it so why change it?
- Chipping the engine further is likely to cause problems elsewhere in the drivechain/clutch/engine
- Buy a D3BT!

Of course, it's your car and you can do what you want with it, but be careful about shifting the dynamics away from what ALPINA planned when they did their work on it.

I enquired about remapping my d3 at performance torque (www.p-torque.co.uk ). they have done a few d3's and develope their own maps on their rolling road. they said it can be taken to an extra 30bhp and 50 lb/ft torque.

Thanks Jay,

I contacted them out of curiosity - they reckon 30bhp & 40lbs/ft, they'e not to far from me, so may have a look / chat with them over the Christmas break.
