Winter wheels for D3MT?

Looking around it appears that winter wheels are a popular option for Alpina owners. I am thinking that 17" BMW E90 wheels but what about others? i.e E46 or E60 maybe?
Basically what wheels have used on your own car so I am getting proper info rather than, should's and maybe's. How about M3 wheels, if so E46, E90?

Looking to get it right first time as sets of wheels and winter tyres can get expensive, many thanks, Rob
