Just a quick comment to the select few on the Alpina register to which I am unable to register on for whatever reason, they comment on the last MOT having 10 advises, they have been addressed, the next comment on me being a trader because I have some cars on my Photobucket from when I lived at home with parents is absolute rubbish! The photos on there date back to when I was 19 so 14 years and theres about 12 cars on there so not a very good trader! Cars are my hobby and pleasure I love them and have lost huge amounts of money on them but that's cars for you and wouldn't change it, plus I have recently just spent £3k on the Alpina and the last service invoice totalled £1500!
I'm selling the Alpina to go towards a business venture that is all I may even sell my RS4 which I have owned for over 4 years also, the longest I have owned a car for. I do not take lightly to selling rare cars like this as it will be the last time I see it or afford it for that matter.

Apologies for the rant not aimed at anyone on here.
Sorry Luke. I guess I put two and two together and made five. My mistake.

 Fair comment. I’ll leave you to guess which part I agree with

I recall another Touring in Estoril came on the market a year or two ago. I think it was also owned in Scotland? It was a mint low-miler and was advertised around £12k but eventually went for £8k.

My memory might be playing up but I’m sure there was some discussion on here about it. I’ll have a search...

Edit: Couldn't find anything but, now that I'm awake, I think it was an E46 B3S Touring

Possibly my Alpina blau B3 Touring #108?
Was advertised for £12k but I played the waiting game and three months later got it for £8k back in 2010

That may be where I'm getting my numbers from but this was definitely an Estoril version and I think it was owned in Fife.

Right so I am the owner of said B3 and I'm quite surprised at some of the low ball comments that have been made on such a forum! Especially since I have been unable to reply or defend myself due to registration on to the forum taking over a week!
Now to address a couple of the retarded comments! The so called epic waffle as you call it is your unvalued opinion, the reaason for that is me expressing how I feel about the car and what it does because its a passion of mine to which I will not apologise for nor edit, if you dont like someone passionate about there car don't read it, the second which is about the price now as said on retro rides the only car I had to price it against at the time was a 25.000 B6 which isnt half the car nor a UK spec car, my plan was to originally ask on here but didnt think the registration to get on here would ever happen so just went for it and as said you can come down in price not up, I'm really not interested if you sold a car for £3500 years ago not relevent unless it was Alpina blue B3 touring sold this year, and it seems the touring fetch a small premium due to what 4 star had and sold a B10 touring for to which they made twice as many of.
I wanted to join this forum prior to advertising the car as I believe has some great people on board and who better to ask.
Heart was in the right place anyway.

You can be interested now! I sold number 36 this year in fact less than 3 months ago! Not Alpina blue but Boston green and a higher factory spec car to yours. After owning it for nearly 6 years, rebuilding the top half of the engine, converting to manual replacing alot of parts over the years and adding 60,000 miles to the car. Its a fair comment to say its probably the highest milege E36 B3 touring in existance and i know a thing or two about them  She drove like a 97,000 mile e36!

I think i'm allowed to say you advert is waffle because well it is. 4 star classics are a cowboy outfit and sell some very very shoddy cars

You can play nice and not pretend to know more than the collective or carry on being a know all. Out of the 5 cars built including you 4 cars are now known.

Welcome to the forum Luke
I'm another Touring lover on here but your ad and the way it was written really stank of a trader trying to punt it on.
You should know the first thing anyone does now is check the MoT history online so with all your inane waffle about the car why nothing to mention all the work that has been done on it?
If you really are trying to command top dollar for it any potential buyer wants to know the nitty gritty and go through the service history and work carried out with a fine tooth comb
There was no mention of any of this in your advert.

I do like the car and it's great that the 4th out of the 5 made has turned up and as it is your steed you can ask whatever you want for it.

There is a whole wealth of knowledge on this forum from many members that can help you in the direction of how to get the best for your car if you can bear a little constructive criticism

So the fact you sold yours cheap makes every one £3500? Sorry but no, I own the car and can price it how I like, if your not interested then no problem move on, I dont pretend to be a know it all hence why I registered on here if you care to read the whole of my reply or waffle as you call you it! I have not put the car up to cause a debate either, I joined for guidance and to make people aware of the car, it seems I get shot down from the word go which surpises me on forum such as this to which I did not expect children with comments to match! I'm a genuine guy and open to discusion on the car not to be hung!

Not aimed at all on here so apologies.

Yes I should have put the above in and that is my bad and have photos of the history along with a complete service book etc, the ad isnt finished and as in the ad was just a testing the water, I will get that sorted next week as away atm, you guys were my first port of call and was going to put it in the whats it worth section and go from there, I can take constructive critism of course and I'm not about to argue with many people on the best forum for the car, I did genuinly want you guys advice etc its just a shame its all got off on the wrong foot so I apologise again if I have some what offened people with my advert and price etc

Welcome to the forum Luke. If you're selling the car you probably won't have much further need for us but if you decide to keep it you will find we're a decent bunch (most of the time) and the knowledge base here is invaluable.

We have a low tolerance for chancers and traders who don't have any real appreciation for the marque. I'm sure you can understand why that is, and indeed why your advert may have given that impression. Hope you don't take it personally.

We also tend to notice when unknown cars come to market. I'd certainly love to know how this one existed for several years not too far from me without me knowing about it - and how you came to hear about it being for sale.

Hello and thank you

I do understand where your coming from and appreciate that and as said I'm a genuine nice guy and happy to answer questions, I too am surprised you guys havent heard or seen the car before, I also very much appreciate the marque and as said I wanted to discuss the car with you guys first prior to sale to which I dont really want to sell and may sell my RS4 instead, I love the Alpina brand and always have done, I would love a B10 bi turbo E34 but alas that will never happen due to the vast price they command now.

Once again my apologies to all.

Never say never  I have a B10BT as well but it is in need of some work which I hope to attend to next year.

You didn't explain how you came to acquire the B3 from the previous owner in Perthshire. Was it advertised?
