New D3 vandalised after only 6 days - Help!
@hap, pictures attached as requested! My wife's Uncle bought the D3 from new a couple of years back; he gets bored easily and tends to switch vehicles every couple of years. He went for a C43 (nice, but not special imo) and gave me a family discount on the Alpina which was in amazing condition and in a spec of my choosing. I couldn't really say no - I'd become bored of my Audi A5 Sportback and fancied something special. I wanted performance but I also cover quite high mileage, so the D3 was absolutely perfect and it's rarity made it all the more special.
Anyway, hope to get to some meets in due course, any reason to drive her at the moment (once she's been fixed of course!)

Thanks Norrie/Arvi- you're right, and I just think I was unlucky on this occasion. Regarding the centre caps, my bodyshop think they can remould and repair but you're right, any replacements come with a new key which is a bit of a pain I guess. Without the Alpina sticky pads I think getting a flush fit is difficult, the centre caps seem to be more of a pain than anything!
Metrics - thanks for that and definitely, I'll let you know what I do with the badge. I'll probably sell it whole rather than by letter; will let you know in a few weeks.

Sorry to see you have had some deadbeat have a go at your new car. Like others have said best to get it sorted and not let them get you down too much. You have a great car and have been a bit unlucky by the look of it.
As a side note if you get new centre caps you can just take the suited lock barrel out of the old damaged centre cap and fit it into the new undamaged centre cap (as long as they didn't damage the barrel in the original centre cap). This way you still only need the one key for all 4 caps.

The best looking d3 that I've ever seen, that's my perfect spec.Spanny wrote:@hap, pictures attached as requested! Thanks D3orbust, and to everyone for the advice and moral support!!
Just got back from a week in Abersoch and collected it from the body shop - she's back to her former glory, although currently minus the D3 Biturbo badge which I'm waiting to be shipped by Alpina. In total I'm down £570 - but interestingly for those that this ever happens to on the future (hopefully not), the centre caps if ever damaged or ill fitting after a wheel refurb can be heated up and remoulded back to shape as can be seen in the attached picture. The body shop removed even the undamaged ones and flexed the locks and re-shaped them to give a more "as-new" flush fitting and then resprayed them to finish.
For now, tempted to run without the D3 badge for a while to see if I can get used to it and more importantly, to see if I can avoid another cretin nicking them again!

Yes, lined up the Alpina badge perfectly and even went so far as to create a template for the Biturbo badge to use once it arrives, so it can align perfectly.
The guy I use is based in Mere in Cheshire - Ben Hodgson from Auto Finesse - mobile 07837 830933. He repairs all of the high end marques in Cheshire but has a bit of a thing for Alpinas. For the respray and centre cap repair, plus some general detailing it cost £300. If anyone uses him tell him Paul Spann recommended him.
Now I have a spare D3 Biturbo badge to sell on here in due course, as promised..
