E39 underside photos needed

Post by B10BRW » Mon Jul 03, 2017 5:03 pm

Bombing down the Autobahn yesterday from Hannover, when the car told me my temp had dropped to -19, then dropped to -40.
Knew right away that the outside temp sensor had failed.

When I stopped and had a look I found out why, the offside inner wheel arch cover had several holes in it and the sensor had dropped out

Popped in to a friendly BMW dealer in Essen today and they had a look at it.
There seems to be quite a lot missing.
They managed to hold it all together with plastic ties to enable me to finish my holiday.
Would someone with a E39 B10 be kind enough to post pictures of the front undertrays and wheel arches as most of mine seem to be missing, and I am not sure what I should actually have.

Thanks

I recently replaced 14 on my own car, not a cheap part, circa £40 for a bit of plastic arch section. A week later found a perfectly service part on a car at my local breakers, could have had it for £5!

Can I please jump on the back of this thread chaps?

Could someone with a B10 V8 confirm how many main undertrays their car has?
Immediately behind the engine undertray, is there a second undertray that covers the gearbox area? No. 19 on the diagram?

Thanks Dave, I thought that the case but the car does have the fixtures in place for a second tray, so was a little unsure.
Assume Alpina remove it from the 540 in Buchloe, for additional cooling?

Don't know about that but my previous B10 didn't have one nor did any of my old e39's. On the other hand my e34 M5 Touring does have 2 undertrays so?

Hmm, odd. As the parts listing shows a second undertray on the 540...
