4 firms wouldn't touch the car due to not having the car on the system.
Finally a firm who were switched on were able to create the car using my build sheet from Alpina with the correct settings.
Bought two new Conti's for the fronts while I was there as well.
We discovered the car was running on 325i settings.

Now with correct Alpina settings:
Build sheet from Alpina:
She drives so nice I can't tell you. Feels quicker, and going round corners is all I to want to do! 😀

Interesting I wonder if they use the same settings on the B3 3.2. Only we are looking at getting ours done in the near future.
Out of interest, what is the name of the company that you used? If they are in East London then it may be worth our while making the trip up.

I was impressed with the facilities and the showroom (food wasn't bad either).
They also do other bits such as brakes, bushes and suspensions. Also happy fit your own parts if you supply.
I would suggest giving them a ring to ask if the car is on the database before making the trip. If they don't (likely), then do obtain the settings to provide them to upload to their database.
I can whole heartedly say that my car has never felt SO lovely to drive in my 10 year ownership - bold statement I know.
It accelerates better, and goes round corners like it was born for that purpose.
I pushed the car harder than I have ever done through twisty A and B roads and My gosh let me say this.
The precision of the handling is truly unbelievable. I was able to point the nose at any bend and like a laser the car was there gliding through whatever I put in its way.
My B3 handles and feels miles better than my E92 335i (manual), and this car is no slouch.

In fact, I would advise all owners of pre 2000 Alpina to check their cars are running on the correct settings. As I discovered from my previous Wheel Allignment data, 325i settings were in place.
Does annoy me a bit as this continually happened due to my own ignorance. I suppose this was something about the car I never queried nor thought about.
I do wonder how many other cars are running on wrong settings.
I would be interested to hear from other owners who make the same discovery and that their cars like mine weren't running on the correct settings, and how the cars drive after the correction.
Feel free to post here.👍

Great, thanks very much for that. Rainham is not that far from us, so I will give them a call. If they don't have the settings for the 3.2 on there database then hopefully I can obtain them from the factory.

Indeed I will once we have it sorted. I take it that you had to pay the factory to obtain your build sheet?Sab wrote:No worries - let me know how you get on.MCB wrote:Great, thanks very much for that. Correct - I purchased the the Classic Alpina pack which included the build sheet.
Inclusions were:
1. Original Invoice for the car
2. Certificate of delivery
3. Build sheet
4. Dealer Brochure insert with Overview of the B3 models.
Speak to Gary Lott or Jonathan Noy at Sytner Nottingham - surely they can get a copy of the build sheet from the database.
Personally, as the car is a keeper the documents I wanted were a great addition to my Folder of paperwork. Cost about £80. Not for everyone I appreciate, however for me it was important to have this paperwork. Will prove to be invaluable in the future.
Let me know if you want a peek at the documents as your car would benefit from having these documents being a soon to be classic (already is in my eyes).
Of course, only worth the money if the car isn't going nowhere and staying put.
You probably are aware of my endeavours to restore my B3 - Labour of love I say, worth every penny.

Thanks for all the very useful information Sab. I have spoken with Dan Soyka at Elite Direct and he has confirmed that he does not hold the settings for the E36 B3 3.2 in his database. Therefore I will be contacting Garry at Sytner to ask if he can provide a build sheet as you have mentioned. I will most certainly be asking him about the "Classic Alpina pack" Is the £80 for the pack or just the build sheet?
And yes I am sure you are already aware that I have been following the restoration of your very closely. I just love that car

All Data apart from the "Wheel track at allow.axle load" is in the Alpina supplementary handbook.
I discovered soon after purchasing my 2011 B3S BT that the settings were for a 335i, it handled like a pig.
Sytner in Sunningdale were able to correct the settings from the ones in the handbook.
Drove like a dream with the correct settings.
Alpina denied that the B3 had left Buchloe with the wrong settings

Yes indeed Brian. After reading what you just said I dug out the two page Alpina supplement and found everything apart from the wheel geometry settings. What I did notice though was that the spec on the B3 3.0 build sheet above is identical to the spec of our B3 3.2. What I am now wondering is do they both also share the same geometry settings? I see no reason why that should not be the case.B10BRW wrote:All Data apart from the "Wheel track at allow.axle load" is in the Alpina supplementary handbook.

Are you going to Gaydon this year
They are still unsure what to do next regarding my health issue. I am due to have more tests next week, Then I see a new consultant at the end of June.
Not sure about Gaydon yet. Many things going on at the moment and the M3 is just a bare shell in the body shop. But it is almost ready to go into paint It certainly wont be ready for Gaydon though. Therfore if we do attend it will just be the Alpina.
