Any burning questions for Andreas Schneider from ALPINA
Any burning questions for Andreas Schneider from ALPINA
Hi all
Andres Schneider will be joining us on the 30th and has kindly agreed to do a Q&A session. In order to maximise the opportunity, I'd like to compile a list of questions we can put to him in advance so that he is able to answer as many as possible on the day.
So if you have a burning question - please send them over to me, probably best to send them via PM or email that way we don't end up trying to answer them ourselves on here
Thanks in advance
Neil

He's such a nice chap. He did our handover at Buchloe when picking up the D3, pleased he's able to make it over for the event.
Is there any thought on presenting him with a keepsake as a thank you for visiting?

Well said,E24man wrote: Why is Sytner UK increasing the price of Alpina items up so much that savings of nearly 40% can be made by UK residents ordering Alpina parts from European Continent Dealers via the internet
and add why does it take weeks for these parts to turn up when you would think that certain service items would / should be mandatory UK stock items for Sytner , i.e. supercharger belts,
Why are the auto gearboxes described as sealed for life by BMW but the informed know that they should have the oil and pan filter changed at around 80k so avoiding potential costly replacement/ rebuild. Genuine ZF service kits are available very rapidly from ZF agents.
Why are many main dealers not aware of the correct service items to be fitted to the supercharged engines in B7/B6/B5, let's face it the oil filter is not an alpina specific part.

I'd be interested in his thoughts on a possible Allrad version of the D3 Biturbo for the UK market. The technology is there on the UK model of the 335d and Alpina offer an Allrad version in LHD.
and
Would there be a possibility of Alpina holding one of their Track Day based events in the UK?

I did ask this previously. As someone else just mentioned it is not Sytner UK that inflate the prices - it is BMW UK greed, very simple.E24man wrote:Why is Sytner UK increasing the price of Alpina items up so much that savings of nearly 40% can be made by UK residents ordering Alpina parts from European Continent Dealers via the internet.
Without getting up on my soap box this is a very British phenomenon.
I am currently in the middle of a large house and annex refurbishment in the UK.
Most of our kitchen equipment, white goods, the actual kitchen itself and bathroom stuff are of German origin; brands such as Miele, Hans Grohe to name a few.
By purchasing all of this in Belgium and Holland we have saved between 40-50%! We are talking tens of thousands of pounds.
I bought a Ford Transit, made a number of journeys to collect and sold it again.
Example: Miele W1 washing machine. UK price £2000. Belgium price £1200 - and my spreadsheet just keeps going like that..
This difference in price cannot be explained by shipping, taxes or any other so called 'over heads' Every time I speak to the manufacturers themselves they have a very simple explanation: oh the UK? They put 100% on top of our cost price..
We are being ripped off in the UK by our own people - its a sad state of affairs and one which I suspect will become even worse.. I'm already getting the 'Brexit excuse' for building material cost increases from various suppliers.
I'll jump back down now gents..

The gearbox oil change procedure has a specific process...doing it incorrectly can kill the box.robmarrs wrote:E24man wrote: Why is Sytner UK increasing the price of Alpina items up so much that savings of nearly 40% can be made by UK residents ordering Alpina parts from European Continent Dealers via the internet

Also BMW don't want to have to change the box oil while the cars are under warranty.
questions
I have already submitted a host of questions about ALPINA which have been officially answered and will be published in the Straight Six Mag of the BMW Car Club, hopefully next edition.
Perhaps, Andreas wants to use those as a starter?

Apparantly all the big companies adjust their prices to the market they are selling to, Sthil tools are supposed to be alot cheaper in Poland than here. It all makes sense to me!Bebs wrote:I did ask this previously.
