Painting Brake Calipers
Painting Brake Calipers
Hi
I am considering getting my Brake Calipers painted, I have not decided on the final colour, which would either Alpina Blue or White, but wanted to ask about the best way to add the Alpina Logo on to the calipers once painted, what is the best method to ensure the longevity of the logo and where can I get the logo?
Thanks

Where you getting the decals? Blue I think would spot on for your car, I am just in two minds as there is no Blue on mine, but then again it would really stand out!Metrics wrote:I'm thinking of doing the same to mine, will go Alpina blue.
Decals are applied and then clear coated over for longevity.

I posted some info about getting my calipers painted last year, not cheap but the finish still looks very good when you clean the wheels and rub the calipers clean between the spokes. I didn't go for decals on mine but BCR do offer them if required.

GuyW had the Callipers painted and decals applied on the D5 that I bought from him.
Thousands of miles later and they still look as new, I think they are Alpina Blue with the decals clear coated after applying.
With the Alpina Decals the painted Callipers really finish off the exterior.

I think blue will look fantastic on your white car, they will stand out but in a good way and not too shouty, imo. My V8S has Alpina blue bremobs (on a black car) and I think they look great.Avtar wrote:Where you getting the decals? Decals - the various companies that do them will supply the decals.
Here's the thread GuyW posted for D3orbust chariot - great to hear the finish is still good.

I think these guys (Unique detailing) paint the calpiers in situ while BCR require the calpiers to be removed and shipped do a much more thorough job of stripping the caliper and then painting it. I'm happy to go with in situ on mute D5, but I will go BCR on the V8S Brembos.
This is also a good thread, started by you in 2014

Avtar, maybe we can sort a mini group buy with Unique?

I think it was Jervint who had his calipers painted in the most wonderful colour. No decals though. I'll try and find the link.

Where are you based in Berks - I'm in Reading.
The car will need to with Unique for a full day, sometime in April - is that ok for you?

Hi all
Due to lack of time I've not progressed this, but will start a new thread with a group buy proposal for caliper painting.
One thing to clarify though - Unique Detailing, the company that do this painting are not in Berkshire, they are in Toddington, Beds.
There's a few of us owners in Berks, and I think that's where the confusion has arisen from.
I'm keen on using Unique as they've done this a couple of years ago on another D5, that car is still on this forum and the calipers have lasted perfectly well.
Sorry for any confusion.
