I thought I would create a new thread to post some updates on #515 following the purchase last year. Thanks to the members here who advised me on the purchase. More info on the purchase from this thread:
http://thealpinaregister.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19265&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I discovered after speaking to couple of previous owners that the car was featured in July 2011 of Classic car, a shoot-out with a M3.

Wow, no messing about there. Get it all out! Great photo set.

It makes me wonder what lurks beneath a few surface bubbles on my B10 3.3.

Were you surprised by the extent of the rust?

Dare I ask how much you are expecting this to cost? I ask because our E30 M3 is going in this Saturday for the same thing Shocked

Thanks for the comments guys.

There was a bit more rust than I expected hence why I went for full restoration. I suppose it's expected on a nearly 30 year old car. One of the previous rust repair also wasn't great.

MCB, I am trying not to think about the costs Shocked . I am replacing all parts where available with brand new items from BMW. These parts has so far been in the region of 7k and further 2k for Alpina specific items including front and boot spoiler. The bodywork cost has been over 7k and probably around 2k bodywork parts, badges etc. Now all the bits are being put back together over the winter.

Ohh did I mention more for the Recaro LS seats.

Ouch!!! And I though we were paying enough. That will certainly lighten your wallet. In fact you will have to sell the wallet as well Shocked

All of that aside. You are doing a cracking job and the car is going to look amazing once completed. I just love that interior Cool

Thank you. I can't take credit for the work, it's all down to Barry.
