Anyone on here know much about watches?
I might have around £2k or there abouts to spend on something nice.
I've always hankered after an Omega, Not to fussed about the Bond Seamasters.
There is one called a Speedmaster that my budget may be able to go to.
Anyone clued up about them at all.
I know of Breightling (sp) as another quality manufacturers and obviously Rolex but I prefer like my Alpinas an understated look so don't want anything too large or garish Any other suggestions ?

I ended up with bretling bit over your budget but very happy with it
Also my advice go and try them on they all feel completely different in weight and size as compared to looking online
It helped me rule a lot of my choices out

Re: Watches
I know a couple of guys deeply into watches. I'll have an ask for advice. They each own a number of classic Omegas.ali wrote:Anyone on here know much about watches?
I have a Tag Heuer S/EL, purely for professional use Duty free many, many years ago, and some Citizen eco-drives I use daily. Their world chrono Red Arrows stuff is really nice and a bargain, and highly regarded by those in the watch knowledge.

Ok reply from a watch fanatic who's family is involved in watch repairs etc.
'Brand new I’d go Christopher Ward. I have two. Anything from £500 up to about £3k for an auto. Various items from dress to aviation to dive. Autos are high quality movement, 5 year warranty and servicing from £50 with them rather than £300 for an omega or Rolex'
Same guy also has numerous vintage Rolex, Tags etc and his daily is a citizen eco-drive. If you want advice on which vintage to look at, I'm sure he can chip in again
Other watch nerd suggested spending far too much time on here: http://www.chrono24.co.uk and suggested the speedmaster is a good option.
Give https://www.britishwatchcompany.com a try. I've used them and 100% recommend them for their service, and they have some very good deals, too.
