They claim to put a "composite ceramic finish, leaving the caliper with a hard shell which brake dust finds it a lot harder to stick to/eat into. This finish lasts for years, keeping them looking fresh and easy to clean"jolls wrote:Don't forget to put some kind of wax/sealant on them to help keeping clean.
That sounds good and the calipers were sent back in empty Gtechniq boxes so perhaps they use that. The spring clips were very tricky to put on without damaging the paint surface so not sure how tough the finish is really going to be, time will tell!
Jim - I'm sure they'd look good in most colours given the finish

Delighted to say the car is back on the road after what seems like a very long time, you can only see the calipers are painted if you look really closely:
Car passed it's MOT with no advisories and as the chap at the garage said it's 'clean as a whistle' (not heard that term for a long time)!
Took it out for a drive around the Downs early Sunday morning before anyone was out & about and remembered why I love it so much

Thought I'd add an update whilst I fit new ceramic pads that are apparently very low on dust (so hoping the wheels stay cleaner).
2 and a half years on and the caliper finish is still pretty good, I'd say the finish has lasted pretty well. I'll be doing the same for my rear calipers when I refurbish them in the future.

Re: B10 V8 front brakes.
I finally got round to replacing my rear calipers this weekend, got them colour matched by BCS in Nottingham. Meeting a deadline might not be their forte but sending out spam emails is definitely one of their specialities.......anyway the finish looks reasonable although not quite as smooth as the job done by BCR. I guess time will tell if I was right to save a few £s!
Here's one fitted, you wouldn't guess the disc is only 6 months old - also fitted with Carbotech Bobcat ceramic pads so there was very little brake dust to clean up which was a bonus as any brake job is usually a real messy job: I also took the opportunity to replace the hoses in the engine bay as there have been a few stories of those hoses failing, not a job for the faint hearted as there is very limited space but very pleased to have got another little job ticked off the list:
