TopGear drive the new D3 Bi-Turbo Touring...
I don't think the journalist really got the point of the D3 Touring. He finishes with the comment that its not a sports car!
Just because a car is fast, doesn't mean it is supposed to be a sports car. Sports cars should be 2 door, small, light (under 1500kg, 1600kg max), good on a track and therefore compromised on the usual town road. You wouldn't want to drive a 350 mile journey in one without a break. Indeed you couldn't because the fuel tank wouldn't let you!
An Alpina is quick, carries all the people its designed to and their luggage, comfortable over normal UK roads and potholes, handles well, brakes well, steers well. And has an exclusive/discerning driver.

I made the mistake of reading the comments underneath the article... though if TG is going to make a Big Deal about the World's Fastest Diesel, I guess the commenters are going to have their say.
Delighted that the standard of commentary in this forum never descends to this level of nonsense.

Agree with you, apart from the shocking English, most of the comments are straight from the muppets who post on PistonheadsTheJT wrote:I made the mistake of reading the comments underneath the article...

Alpina is a manufacturer
No - it is a tuner
No - it's a tunner
A what???
When you talk to proper petrol-heads (those with collections/extensive buying history/money to burn) they all agree that Alpinas are very fine automobiles.
