Interesting that they are going to do a sub 4.0l engine. The car tax in China for cars above 4.0l is huge, which is why all the car manufacturers are now doing sub 4.0l twin turbos (Audi, AMG, Ferrari, Maserati, McLaren, Bentley, Aston Martin in 2017, etc).

BMW must be doing the same I presume, because the cost of ALPINA doing it alone won't make sense.

That means the sub 4.0l engine will pass down to the B3, B4 and B5. May be a B2 is on the line as well.

Don't forget the RS6 & 7 are pumping out more than 600bhp as well. MB will follow. So BMW and Alpina will not go behind these figure.

From what I've heard there may be a "hot" 7 at some point in the pipeline, maybe not for the UK market though

The 4.0l engines are capable of 750hp+.

The 2.0l engine in the Audis and the AMG A series are both doing 380hp.

I think that the current D3/4 & B3/4 are so close in many respects that the planting of a new engine into the B3/4 would be a great idea to separate the two.
