E39 Touring B10 v8 v's B10 3.3
Firstly I'll introduce myself.
I'm Tom form Essex. I have recently defected from years of Saab ownership to a BMW e39 540 touring. It's a fantastic car but I have a hankering, thanks to my Mum and Dads neighbour, for an Alpina touring.
I was really after a v8 but a nice 3.3 has come up on this forum.
What are the pros and cons of the two?
Thanks in advance.

Do not forget as the V8 is spherical ball steering and the 3.3 is normal rack and pinion. IMHO a lot of difference on how the cars feel and handle.

And of course the 3.3 can be a Manual whereas the V8 is always a Switchtronic, that third pedal can make a lot of difference to some people

Don't immediately dismiss the thoughts of Alpinas from abroad, www.autoscout.de has many more Alpinas than you see here, and prices start quite reasonable for a V8, if you don't mind sitting on the wrong side and the drive back from Germany. The spec is usually more "odd" than a UK model but I find that even more niche than a UK car. Many more variants available from the mid 1990s too. Give them a try 😉😉

Thanks for all the replies and info.
I had a look at autoscout. There's a lovely e34 b10 v8 in blue with a lovely cloth interior. Strong money though.
Hopefully the one at dey motor company is still available at the end of the month, as I can't see me getting the opportunity to go up there sooner.
I don't suppose anyone on here would be tempted to part with theirs?
