M135i

Post by MikeR » Wed Apr 02, 2014 8:27 pm

Hi
Anyone see the Top Gear recently when JC had a spin in a M135i apparently while doing a top speed in the wet? Any thoughts on the cause?

Aquaplaned driving like a loon in the soaking wet.
Early-retirement = too much time on my hands.

It was incredibly wet, he was going far too fast for the conditions and aquaplaned - nothing wrong with the car, just bad driving

Too much speed for the conditions and he simply aquaplaned off.

There was no indication of how fast he was going in the M135i and the other 2 cars at the same position on the track so almost impossible to draw a fair conclusion. Clarkson is a knob with these sort of occurrences and doesn't explain to the average viewer why he dicked it up. His fault, not the car.

He needs to go on a driver awareness course and learn to drive to conditions, even on-track. Man's a buffoon....but fun to watch *sometimes*.

Is that not the whole point of the show? I see him and his 2 mates as light entertainers that dick about in cars, long may it continue. 8)

VW paid him to bad mouth the BMW??

Wrong comparison of cars anyhow, should have been an M135i with an R32, not a GTI!

 doubt it, he doesn't need the cash - it's just entertainment really, although if it stops idiots killing themselves with RWD cars they can't handle, perhaps that's a good thing...? (I might have to rethink that last bit...)

I think I saw a comparison somewhere, I think it was Auto Express, the lap time of the GTI (with performance pack) was quicker round a track than the R32......if my memory is correct.

Which is a damned good drivers' car, the manual M135i probably being the pick although the dastardly diesels punch well above their weight

Light entertainers who try to enlighten the buying public: they should stick to entertainment and not dabble in half-assed customer information. I enjoy being entertained but find Clarkson pushes that to its limits sometimes with his crass comments, The mal-information they sometimes peddle grates as, yes, it makes for 'fun' tv, but affects others (eg the manufacturers) in excessively negative ways. Anyone spotted the criticism of fiery Porsche GT3's that's suddenly gone quiet...Porsche have leaned on them by with-holding the 918 from their hands unless they shut the £$%&-up about it  Maybe BMW should tell them to go swivel next time they want to incompletely test a car from their portfolio.

Yes many have told me, but it is still a 1 series and that will always be a problem fo me.
They could make this a driving dream but I would not want one.

If anyone picks (or not) a car on anything that these human forms of the Banana Splits say then more fool them.
I love how they stir up debate and free advertising for their brand on every car forum.
