E39 b10 v8

Post by troymann » Tue Sep 10, 2013 2:59 pm

Hi,

I'm considering going to look at this b10 v8 : http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewit ... 1095946024

Does anybody on here know of this car or anything about it?

It's the first time I've considered an alpina and could use any help on offer. :)

Hi Troymann, I first spotted this one back in May/June 2012 at this same dealer. It was priced at £6995 originally then reduced to £6500. The previous reg. was L4 PNA and the mileage at that time was 98k. Not sure why it has stuck for so long but sometimes that happens with these cars and does not necessarily mean there is something wrong with the car. It seems like a good price now if all is in order as they may feel that they have had it for long enough and just want it moved on. Looks to me worth a viewing and check out it is a good enough car.

I ended up buying a B10 V8S last December after my searching and I can assure you they are great to drive and the build quality, being an e39 to start with then improved by Alpina is excellent.

Go and test drive it.

Being an early one, they are a bit optimistic with the BHP it's only 340
The rear spoiler is missing, making it look like a boggo E39, otherwise looks in reasonable nick, worth a look :D

:D Thanks everyone, it needs a bit of work but I'm happy with the starting point condition. Can anyone recommend an indy for servicing? I'm on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire boarder.
Also could anyone recommend a repair service for the digital display on the dash?

I used a guy in Southampton who is well known for repairing the Pixels.
As I was able to go to his place he repaired mine in less than an hour while I waited, cost £100.
I believe he charges £120 inc postage if you can send him the instrument binnacle.
Have not got his details to hand at the moment, as I am in Germany at an Alpina meeting :D
If no one has given you his details, will do so when I return to the UK

Welcome to B10 ownership, it's worth the effort.

I used the same chap as B10BRW - Rudi in Southampton. His website was www.bmwpixelfix.co.uk but doesn't seem to be active so you can try emailing on rudi@bmwpixelfix.co.uk.

I do have a mobile from 12 months ago which I can PM you and he charged me £100 for a while you wait service or slightly more with postage - excellent fix. There do seem to be a few choices for this now but I was very pleased with Rudi as many have been and as he was local it was even better.

Fixed mine myself for less than £20 with a new ribbon from ebay. Bit fiddly but very satisfying when you see it all working.

That's great, thank you. Is this fix achievable? what costs are involved if it all goes wrong?
Also I'm considering carrying out the service myself. I see the recommended oil is 8 liters of 0w-30 costing around £80. what risks do I run if I opt for 5w40 to save a few quid?

Hi and congrats on the car.

There are regular deals on Castrol edge 0-30 so please don't be ripped off for £80. I think most member stick the oil spec although some oil burners have changed over to a more viscous grade.
Sure someone will come along with where to buy for a good deal.
