To debadge or not to debadge????
To debadge or not to debadge????
Still trying to make my mind up people, I normally a clean look at the rear and have debadged every car previously.
But I'm toying with the idea of keeping this one badged.
I will be removing the current "Alpina" & "D3" badge in the coming weeks as they are weathered and starting lose the chrome look to them. I have already managed to negotiate a new set from the garage that sold me the car as part of the deal and was planning on fitting them after the car was fully paint corrected.
I just cant decide if I want the clean look or not?

Hi there,
I ran mine debadged for a short while after I had the paint corrected. In the end I refurbished the badges and sprayed them matt black - I think they look good against the darker paintwork on my D3.
I've had the front end resprayed and have the original silver decal sitting around waiting for me to decide if I want it in black or not!

Hope you don't mind me crashing your thread
Has anyone sussed out a way of reviving the Alpina badge? Will Autosol work?
I've got the Alpina rear badge on mine that needs refreshing.
Mine doesn't have the D3 badge on it though, or the silver front sticker on the bumper - are these available from anyone other then a Alpina dealer?

Silver on the bumper is available from SPA69, there is a thread about stripes on the register.Arvi wrote:Hope you don't mind me crashing your thread

My previous car was debadged, from order, which gave a nice symmetry to the rear.
But I did order new badges when I had the car painted, but looking back, I would have left it debadged, I believe, how the Germans have theirs.

Coming from the perspective of being a debadge fan (and was going to do the same for my new car), my view now is that Alpinas deserve a badge.
It's unusual enough to be a talking point, and something I've noticed is that most cars debadged in the UK tend to be x18i/d or x20d's so my view now is unless you want a Q car, have a badge and be proud.

I'm thinking one of these would look pretty trick on an Alpina:

Thought I'd resurrect this thread rather than create a new one on the exact same topic. I am having my boot lid resprayed on my 2001 E39 B10 V8 and would be removing the Alpina emblems and BMW badge and replacing them with new ones after the repsray is complete. However, both Alpina emblems total about £245 and that includes discount. I started toying with the idea of debadging the car and skipping on spending that money for the badges and am currently of the opinion that debadged is better as the rear looks cleaner and more symmetrical, it's stealthier, rather than relying on the badge to tell BMW drivers 'this is an Alpina', rather they look at the actual car to learn the clues of what it is. Most ppl don't seem to know what an Alpina is anyway and the main talking point seems to be the fact that they don't know what it is and it says 'V8' on the back, although the odd person knows a bit about Alpina and is really enthusiastic. Derogatory things can be said about people in both camps I guess lol. It would still have 2 exhausts so would not appear to be a 520i lol I may change my mind yet as I've only held this revised opinon for about an hour.
