Not again, I hear you say - and that was my reaction too!
After getting a new gearbox recently, imagine my concern when my wife started reporting similar symptoms. Into the delaership but no fault codes - not untypical for a Renault, I know, but not very helpful either.
Fearing the worst - turbo problems particularly - I sent the car off to be looked after and asked them to check the battery as I was sure it was - completely coincidentally - reaching the end of its useful life.
Phone call back to confirm the battery was knackered and could they replace it. Yes, I said and thought no more of it. 10 minutes later I get a phone call to tell me that, when replacing the battery they had to remove the airbox and associated pipework - don't you just love Renault design! On doing so they found the MAF covered with debris coming from the airbox where local wildlife had decided to build a nest
Replaced the air filter, cleaned up the MAF and air intake assemblies and flushed the engine/exhaust through with a bottle of "magic stuff" and the car is right as rain.
Not going to find that one in the troubleshooting guide for an Espace ...
