That is some serious open heart surgery there.

Any reason for the engine rebuild? An ALPINA still looks great on ramps

Any further updates?

Hope it is sorted soon

Great when a restoration is done in a clinically clean spacious workshop.

Look forward to seeing and hearing about the progress, best of luck and hope all goes well.

Update!

Post by Sab » Sun Dec 04, 2011 8:33 pm

Ok Guys here is the works done so far.

1. Full Engine re-build
2. 6 new cylinder and sleaves
3. head skimmed / Sprayed in heatproof mat black
4. New Clutch / flywheel
5. New hoses all round
6. Rear bushes
7. Undersealed
8. New window seals.

Neal: No particular reason for the restoration; 132,000 miles later I thought she would appeciate a good bit of TLC. As you know my passion for Alpina's, I cannot think of a better way to spend 6k. Lol!!!

Aimimg to have her back before christmas, then into the body shop for a deep polish and wheel re-firb..

why would you strip and rebuild an engine with no problems? It would do double that milege without need for a major overhaul.

Hi Simon,

I went for the re-build because I want the car in showroom condition including the engine.
It's the way I like to do things when it comes to cars that pass 100k.

I know this habit of mine can be costly; you only live once. lol!
