Hoping someone here can help....

which BMW engine was the Alpina B10/B3/B3S/RoadsterS engine based on, I think both 3.3 and 3.4 used the same base block.

T'internet is not very conclusive, some saying it's the Iron S52 and others that it's an Aluminium sleeved M52 with single Vanos, so, does anyone know which it is?

Sadly I haven't got one since parting with B3 touring #107 a few years ago, so I can't pop out to check!

It's based on the US M3 Evo 3.0 litre engine with an iron block and single vanos, which is then bored out.

Its based on the S52B32 engine which was made for the USA spec e36 M3.

to us europeans its a big capacity M52 with a cast iron block instead of Ali
