Hi All,
As a new member I am looking for my first Alpina and this car is available near me in Scotland.
Would anybody have any information on its background etc.?
Current mileage around 98k with a full service history.
It has the alpina badges rather than BMW badges which I understand may be a problem for some people.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't have any details about this car I'm afraid but it looks like a nice spec and condition. No substitute for going to view a car first hand and making your own opinion though.

The debate about Alpina vs BMW roundels is really down to personal taste and whether you are a stickler for originality or not. These days, of all the Alpinas for sale, it feels like more have the non-original Alpina roundels than BMW.

Thanks for the interest, I plan to go and see it pretty soon.
Would there be any specific areas I should examine or perhaps check on areas of work carried out?
It looks good from the photos.
Any ideas on value?

Hello and welcome
I was down in Ayr working all day yesterday, nice part of the world.
At 98k miles the gearbox should have had a rebuild, they usually tend to go around 90k miles so do check the history file to ensure work has been carried out on it or there could well be a #2k bill just around the corner.
Also at that mileage one would expect the suspension to have been replaced recently as that usually tires out by 90k miles too.
Check the history file closely to see if they have been replaced and if the have check and see that they are Alpina items and not stock BMW ones as some people skimp on this and don't fit the correct replacement parts.
Cooling system also needs a look at 100k miles, potential for radiator and water pump to need doing too

Most importantly read the history file through and through and check invoices/dates/stamps/VOSA all agree with each other.

It might just be me but 3 times in my life I have gone to dealers in Glasgo to buy a car and on all 3 occasions they tried to rip me off. I am very distrusting of car dealers in Glasgow so if you aren't too clued up on cars take a friend who is
Good luck

I knew it
Bloody Pikey dealers
No MoT on the car so how are you supposed to take it for a test drive?
Even with trade plates you must have an MoT.
Probably one of these dealers that will take a deposit off a customer, promise to get an MoT done then it doesn't happen. Customer gets fobbed off with excuses, time elapses then customer gets pissed off and loses deposit Seen it happen a few times

Hopefully I'm just being cynical and will be proved wrong but go in with your eyes wide open

Not necessarily an issue. The V5's are often a bit iffy on specifics as they rely on supplying dealer admin and they are not always that accurate. The fact #238 is Midnight Blue that could easily be considered Black. If it was an issue for an owner they could apply to DVLA for an amendment.
